    Afternoon...

Not sure about everyone else, but I'm lurking rather than sewing (currently psyching myself for another attempt to tame the sewing machine...it eats people you know...).

I was going to ask you (Rufusdog) which came first, the saying or the decoration - but I guess you've just answered that!

    Nora.

    Hi Knitting Nora

The first of these cushions I did I had an idea to make an appliqued picture of the house we grew up in and put our "family" on there with the house. I then found a nice poem to go with it and made it up for my brother for his 60th birthday. I had a few people who saw it say I should do some for my Folksy shop so I did some more with the house pictures on the front and for the back I was just doing either Home Sweet Home or something shorter so i didn't have to do so much embroidery (all by hand). Then I decided to do a cushion each for my daughters for Christmas and found the poems first for them.

I was out the other day and talking to my brother about what I could do next for my shop and he suggested doing some other sayings so this is what I have done, I am embroidering the sayings first, then I will come up with a cushion front after, probably something flowery.

There are some pics of the other cushions I did on my blog xx

Thanks Hart, I have been missing my camera for the last two weeks as OH has taken it away with him so I have been unable to upload the latest bits I have done. I thought I would be up in my sewing room all the time while he was away but I haven't. I still got a few bits finished though.

I haven't done much on the way of sewing lately, this week due to the children being home but prior to that just really silly busy! I have, however, just bought lots of lovely butterick and vogue retro 50s dress patterns from eBay US and I can't wait for them to arrive. I plan to do one in a navy spot cotton which I will put a large petticoat underneath and wear for the jubilee parties next year, but I want to make a few for day wear in the Spring too. I've lots loads of weight and only have a bit more to go and I really want some pretty clothes to wear. I can't wait to get them and start!!

  • Hi all

For anyone else who wanted to know I trawled google and Decor Bond is a fusible interfacing. Doesn't help me much though as I still don't know where I'd get it from nor what 'weight'.

What are you needing it for? I just use medium interfacing from ebay for my bags.
    Hope this helps :D

HMO :D I love your rag wreath :T
