Inspired by Pennib's lovely felted piece, I'm feeling brave enough to show you a couple of pieces I have done recently. Hope you like them.

Welcome Helen, good luck with your Xmas challenge!

Jennyjelly they are lovely - works of art!
  • Welcome to the thread Helen, how lovely to make dresses for your daughter's doll. I would love to do that, but there are no dolls I could make them for!

Jennyjelly, your felting and embroidering are lovely.

Thanks for the kind comments about my bag.

Is it possible to teach yourself how to sew/embroider by hand or do you really need someone to teach you?! I can do it (kind of) as long as I do it REALLY slowly and I concentrate very hard! I'm making a load of stuffed felt christmas decorations (that I'm hoping to sell at church, and online if I can figure out how - I'm not very technically-minded!), and whilst it looks ok (I kind of like the little 'blips' here and there, it adds charm and looks "handmade"), my embroidery skills are shocking! I spent a good 2hrs or so sewing, unpicking and getting very cross with myself.

I'd use a machine, but I can't afford one yet (nor do I know how to use one...)

Secondly, does anyone know where I can get a large-ish amount of brown felt? Preferrably in Glasgow...

Excellent! Is that the one at Jordanhill or the one that's in the city?

    And thank you!

Hi, its the one in the city although other one probably sells it too. I was in there a wee while ago and they sold it and the one in Edinburgh sell it too. Maybe just give them a call first and check they have it in stock. If memory serves its about £7/£8 per metre.

Oooh, that's great! Thanks! The one at Jordanhill is just down the road/one train stop away so I can pop in and see.

    lovely makes again.
Still not sewing. Was hoping to sew today but had to deal with twins council bills instead! No comparison!
Have fabrics ordered from ebay but they have gone missing in the post by the looks of it. Two different ones in the same week. Not good.
