The Sewing Room

Thank you - I'm using up my stash as i really don't have room for it to keep growing! I can't put my finger on what is bothering me with these aprons. I think that a) I need a new iron (I know this for a fact!!), b) I really need to take better pictures, but I do not know how as the camera I have is a bit rubbish, c) I need more designs of fabric, rather than buying large quantities of the same fabric (I have three rolls of Laura Ashley Fabric propped up against the wall behind me atm that I have bought over the last couple of years, plus 2 large crates with Clarke and Clarke fabrics in, amongst others, plus a crate of FQs that are all nice in their own right, but none of them complement each other and d) maybe I should be less critical of myself (my OH always tells me this, bless 'im!)."A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

I've just invested in a ruffler foot for my machine so I'm anticipating a big pleating and frilling session - just as soon as I can work out how to use it!Oh dear, here we go again.0

I want a rolled hem foot for some projects I have in my mind. Sadly, I'm thinking of asking for one for my birthday next month!
I just looked at various ruffler feet and they look very complicated. Please let me know how you get on as I've recently found the joys of be-frilling (and invented a new word, which I shall keep on using!!), and I may attempt to con one out of someone for Christmas."A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

I am terrible, I have a load of feet and I never think to use them! So long since I have that I probably dont even remember what one is for what.
I use the zip feet, the buttonhole one and my normal one. I have a new teflon one to use on oil cloth but not had a chance to use it yet.!
I must look at the others and see what they are!.
I manged to cut out my letters yesterday, so I am hoping that I might be able to get some of them sewn onto the fabric. But not sure when as I have no childcare help today with DGD and by the evening I am usually in bed when she is.
Push myself a bit I suppose. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I love the fabric too - it's 'Bird Trail' from Clarke and Clarke.
I have some Clarke & Clarke material to cover some chairs and make some runners/coaster/placemats in my conservatory - Wildflowers rouge is the design. Funny, I am not a chintzy/pink kinda gal, but I love this! Perhaps I am getting in touch with my feminine side at last - taken over half a century!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
I am at last getting the craft room into a working space, heading up there soon, once I have knocked back the proving bread and have done a bit of painting..it's all about multi-tasking here!!!
A friend gave me three large clear plastic boxes yesterday so I am going to have a morning of sorting out all my material into their weights, then colours ...didn't think I had very much, but the stash has been growing lots lately!!
Then after all this sorting, perhaps I will at last get around to doing some sewing!!!

My Granny's Singer sewing machine which I had for many years, had lots of different attachments, including a ruffler foot. I had great fun with it as a teenager. I even made my wedding dress with it.
I gave the machine to my Sis-in Law many years ago as she was interested in doing some sewing. As I had bought a fancier machine in Holland (it has zig-zag!), my mum asked if I could give my SIL the old machine. I wonder if she still has it, and ever uses it? I would have it back in a shot if it was still lurking somewhere in their place. Perhaps I will ask, you never know!
Right, I need to get off this 'puter as there is so much to do.
Have a lovely stitchy day everyone
