Babyboysmummy - you may also get your answer on how to make them in that thread, if not PM me your email address and I can send you the sheet I used to make mine.
Thank you. Every time I read this thread I get even more convinced that I really need to go & buy a sewing machine! There is a sewing machine shop not far from us so I'm going to call in next week & see what they have.

Quick question for those of you who have sewing machines but haven't started to use them....
If it was available, would you pay someone to come to your home to give you 1 to 1 tuition?0 -
I would definately shop about - those local shops are brilliant for good advice but not always the best price. Ask what are the most reliable easiest to use makes (brother, singer spring to mind) and then shop about for one of those at the best price.
I love mine and would rather give up my TV than my sewing machineYou can stand there and agonize........

Yes (depending on hourly rate.) Ive just started classes as have never sewn anything in my life but sometimes think it would be nicer to have 1 to 1 tuition as think you would learn much quicker and would be a bit more personal.:smileyhea0 -

It would depend on the cost as I know they run courses at my local adult education centre. Thankfully my mum is very skilled at using one so I've already arranged that as soon as I have my machine I'll be getting lessons from her0 -

I think I would have considered it. I paid £40 (1/2 price concession rate) for a 10 week course, I stopped going half way through. There were 12 people and only 2 sewing machines. a lot of time was taken up drawing patterns. Now that I can use the machine (a bit) i can see that pattern drawing would be a good skill to learn but when you are a total dunce with a sewing machine there didn't seem much point. I recon if I spent £40 for someone to come to my home and teach me for 2 hours on my own machine I would have learned more!0 -

As a complete novice I would def consider this, especially as you could learn on your own machine.0
