Kandip, I love your bag, what a bargin find with the fabric, well done. I too would rather be without TV than my sewing machine (if only I could spend more time on it :rotfl: soon, not long now :rotfl:

amandada, I would love 1 to 1 sewing lessons. I can sew (just) but would love to learn more and be more confident with patterns. There is nothing around here (unless I travel to Derby) so learning in the home sound great.
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Iv tried so many times to learn to knit but I just cant do it so had to make do with making friendship bracelets for the scarfs and using part of another sock for the hats.

23rd spiral hes adorable, love him!

Danables - your monkeys are awesome! so cute and happy looking! and i'd say you were inventive when making a friendship bracelet and using a sock, not "making do". :T

RE Tilda books - i'm not sure if i do want to buy them or not, as on amazon you can only see the intro page, so i want one from somewhere like the library so i can see them and find out if i can understand the instructions - if i can, and there's enough to keep me interested (which i now dont doubt after all your lovely makes and comments), i will buy them. I just want to see inside first.

  • Me again  I :heart:The Eternal Maker and Fabric Rehab. I normally do little projects which feature a kookie fabric (with cupcakes on, or dogs, music notes, etc.) along with a plain linen so the fat quarters are ideal, plus the designs are so different. Enjoy :)

The Eternal Maker is a brilliant site, i sells everything! Ive looked through all of the fabrics and Im definately tempted to buy hehe. Fabric Rehab i love already :)

  • Globaltex do some nice fabrics in spotty and flowery patterns which are in a very Cath Kidston style. I get mine from a local fabric shop but I know that there are sellers on Ebay. http://www.globaltex.co.uk/collection.php?hdnCollectionID=38#

I've used that Ebay seller in the past and they were very good.

  • I have been awol for ages because I have been doing so much sewing lol!

I have been working on a story sack for The Very Hungry Caterpiller - it's all in felt except for the bag which was a small canvas bag which I covered in hungry caterpiller fabric!

It's for a friends little boy who is 1 tomorrow - hope they like it!

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.- thats what I did 23rdspiral Iv just got the tilda crafting for springtime book from the library and its brilliant definitely worth buying there are way to many pages for me to photocopy, the xmas one is also good but I will probably get away with photocopying the bits i like from that one. The only one I actually bought was the the homestyle one. Im pleased I did as with the springtime book theres lots I want to make from there. Definitely recommend reserving them online with the library first. Iv never done any form of sewing before bar the monkeys but I think I can probably have a go at these patterns.

One question about the patterns at the back of the Tilda books- it says to double up the material when transfering the pattern onto the material but then (for example) it says for the angels arms x 4 on the pattern why would i need 4 arms if im doubling up the material ?- sorry if im being thick but can someone explain this?
