Everyone's putting me to shame here! Haven't done much wiv boys here - turned house into a bombsite, they're bored with the snow now! Hubby did take them to park yesterday so i got in the attic and started sorting out clothes for ebay, etc. Now got 2 tubs and a binsack full on top of my wardrobe so although it looks messier with it up there its a start lol. Todays my 5 yr olds birthday party and i have bulk cooking to do so won't be able to do any more today.grocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000

Keep going Mumof2, your DH will start to see the difference in the house and may just catch the decluttering habit.
Calley, ref your old kettle and toaster, have you got a charity shop near you that accepts electricals?
Old batteries - Found out today that every Asda has a collection box to recycle old batteries - handy for anyone clearing out those kitchen drawers! Wish I'd known this earlier then could have put a few in there.
In = food shopping + more strong bags
Out = I cleared the 2 side tables in the lounge and got rid of loads of bits:
- medicines (packaging recycled)
- a side table! I swopped a large side table for a smaller one from upstairs. The old one was too bulky and allowed me to clutter it. So tis in the garage ready to go to charity.
- cracker gifts (charity).
- papers (lots) (recycled)
- old leaking air freshner (recycled).Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

MaM - have you got any battery powered clocks? Old batteries will run them for ages.
I plan to declutter the kitchen window sill today. Just need to find my kick up the bum then I'll be good to go!0 -

For those like funfairprincess with old clothing not suitable for sale at charity shops, some of them like our local salvation army one sell "rags" to the "ragman". Or some councils have recycyling schemes for old clothes. Or of course you could use them as cloths around the house to clean eg the windows.
I'm off to do my Declutter tasks: spending 5mins clear my kitchen surfaces and 5mins sorting in the bedroom, then a cup of coffee and a read.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Hello:j
In: a book and birthday card [to go next Saturday]
Out: bag of books and DVDs to my parents
small amount of recycling
milk bottle tops to freecycler
Pending 2 bottles of bath stuff put onto freecycle. If no takers then they can go in with the pending jumble sale hoard.
With regards to rags/old clothes I've offered a bag of them on freecycle [was clear in my offer that they weren't wearable] and someone took them as rags for use on the local steam trains.

:hello: Hello and happy new year to all de-clutterers, please may I join in??
I joined in towards the end of last years thread but my decluttering slowly dwindled into nothing. My new years resolution however is to join you all in the hope of decluttering of our home!
I'm going to make a start this weekend, although it will be in bite size chunks as I need to ease the OH gently into my way of thinking. So I'll report back in a few days with an update.
Happy decluttering everyone and thank you to other posters for some really good ideas of how to tackle the problem. :T0 -
So far this morning I've sorted through the shelf unit in the living room, so have put several old wedding brochures and catalogues into the recycling bag. I've also put 6 videos in the charity bag.
The green recycling bin hasn't been emptied (should have been yesterday) It is completely full and I have another half a bag full to go into it already today!
Off shopping now, so will have another go at decluttering later, or tomorrow.0 -
Kitchen window sill done!
OUT - A candleabra (is that spelt right?)
A bag of decorative marbles that were sitting in a vase. Vase has been washed and put under the sink.
3 empty bubble mix bottles.
A box of paints and brushes - however kids have seen these have earmarked them for after lunch.
This is quite cathartic! Coming here and writing it all down makes you more accountable.0
