The Great Declutter Part 2

Think doing the filing for DH is going to be 'interesting'. I'm of the opinion that you should throw out stuff you don't want before you start - otherwise you are making files for it unnecessarily but no, I was told in no uncertain terms that that is NOT the way DH wants his filing done and I'm NOT to chuck stuff out!!! Also old 'The Week' magazines - he wants to look through them one by one and cut out anything interesting. Um, hello, is this not what the Internet can be useful for?
Oh well. I am making progress but he has a real phobia about throwing things out so I just have to bite my tongue (so hard it hurts sometimes !)
In: Nothing :T
Out: Good bundle of unnecessary papers (from my filing).
Still got 3 full bin bags waiting in the van to go to the charity shop too
Some packets of lemon meringue pie mix / Angel Delight that were well out of date!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
I haven't done a lot this week as have been back at work, but don't plan on going very far at the weekend so will get on with some of it then. I've done quite well at keeping on top of not cluttering up my worktop in the kitchen though (that's where all my stuff ends up!)
I may have to take some rubbish to the tip tomorrow (if open) as our collection hasn't happened today and I hate to see piles of rubbish bags everywhere (I live in a flat, so it looks like loads, but probably only one bag is mine!)
Does anyone know what kind of things charity shops will accept? For some reason I had it in my head that it was clothes and books only, but seeing some of the posts on here, it seems to be pretty much everything. Is it specific to the shop or are they all pretty much the same?Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Decluttered under the sink; threw oput old jay cloths that were past their best and some old pots of dried up 'stuff' - no telling what they are any more! Discovered I had three open and half used window spray cleaners - why, when I dont often clean the windows in the first place? Well, probably because I couldnt find one when I needed it so bought another! Anyway, all tidy now so wont need window cleaner for a whileSealed pot challenge no 889: £143.96 saved :j

I think it depends; ours will take must stuff (clothes/toys/books/curtains/bedding etc) - maybe if unsure you could call up a couple and see what they say?Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Does anyone know if it's ok to put a bin liner inside a shredder? Would make it so much easier to empty.
Should be ok. We have a couple pieces of metal that are suppose to be a back cross brace for a desk. We use them shoved in a drawer with a bin liner draped over the top and the shredded place on topped. Works well for us.
Umm let me think
Over the last few days
in: One new toaster other still sat waiting to go over the tip. Still in the car 2 X 12 crockery sets in blue. 2 Books today, food, more stain removal stuff, Stuff from T & M with a £5 voucher :j 2 X curtain tracks. Christmas wrapping paper and gift bags stowed away in the gift chest. One birthday present. 10 X birthday cards (where 10 for a £1) 200 tea lights (don't ask but they are on offer for £3 for 2 X 100 packs.) and 6 pairs of PJ's for husband (£3.58 each per pair including P + P). Mind you should have seen husbands face when he I asked did he need more PJ's came up stairs and handed over two pairs :rotfl:priceless.
Out: Nothing
Pending: 2 X carrier bags of food goodies for my mum. A Toaster and Kettle as well cardboard and plastic to the tip. 1 X wooden curtain rail and one plastic bag for the charity shop.
Even though today is the first day for three days we have been out. I did not get any decluttering done. But did change a curtain pole for a curtain track :jmaking it easier to tuck the curtains behind the radiator now.
Good luck everyone.
Yours

Hello
Not done fantastically well on the decluttering front oops!
In- lots of bags of jumble from my parents- in the garage and will go on again on 23rd Jan. We were given first refusal so OH now has a load of new to him ties and 3 shirts from my Dad.
A cheque [don't mind that sort of post:D]
Out: All OH's old ties and a several shirts either to the recyling or said jumble. Not convinced that overall we've gained much which I suppose is a good thing
Load of frozen veg have been cooked up to make into soup for tomorrow.

Freaky.. charity shops here will take anything EXCEPT underwear (obviously) unless new with tags attached and electrical items.. they have to be safety checked before they are allowed to be resold and the shops can't afford to have it done. The only ones here that do accept electrical stuff are Dove House (doubt you'll have one there) and Oxfam
In
nothing!
Out
3 ebay parcels.. 1 more has a bid.

Halogen heater - wasn't planning on buying this but had to as water pipes were frozen this morning for second day running & needed it to thaw them out.
