The Great Declutter Part 2

I'd like to join in too please. I'm pretty ruthless in clearing out paperwork and a fairly good declutterer but there's always more isn't there:D
Out: freecycled a bag of tester pots/ 5 videos and 1 DVD
Glass gone to recycling
Load of leftovers eaten up and worked out that I've got the makings of a crumble when my visitors come tomorrow so that's cleared a space in the freezer
In: OH bought 2 books and the small person one with their Christmas vouchers.

This could so be me talking. While I can't pretend to understand the pressure illness puts on you, I can sooo relate to this sentiment (and our ages match too:D) Okay....I'm in. Second bedroom needs sorting so it can be used recreationally ( books and TV, not other kinds) and the cupboard actually needs some space in it to act like one.

Can I jump on the bandwagon too please?
Have spent yesterday and today decluttering the kids bedrooms - one box of stuff already gone on freecycle, another heap of stuff to go on ebay. I have decided I am starting at the top of the house and working my way down!! The chaps in my house are quaking in their boots :rotfl:
So several bags of rubbish out today but Christmas presents were already in
Alison - we too have 6 cats, they have all decided that is too cold to be out at the moment but when they are out they are great mousers and ratters - well thats my excuse and I am certainly not decluttering any of them or the dogs. But I may have to find a new home for one of our chooks who has turned out to be a cockeral (we already have one!) so may have to take a trip to next door where they have just got some chickens, and I know he wont be food :TFree/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
I need to be a part of this! :j
I cleared lots out last year but still can't seem to keep on top of it. We Freecycle lots and regularly leave things out in charity bags and I currently have a car boot full of bags destined for a charity shop.
One son has large built-in cupboards in his bedroom which are full of things from the room's days as my study. I have teaching resources but left teaching almost 2 years ago, stacks of clothes - many of which it looks unlikely I shall ever fit into. The dry and cosy garage is half full of boxes of books from my days selling those whilst our loft is crammed dangerously full.
I also have a very kindly m-i-l and assorted aunts who send over stacks of charity shop finds as fast as I can clear things out, usually several sizes too small or large for me and an unflattering shade of beige!
Two sons - one who loves to collect little things (millions of) and the other who is desperately untidy (can't think where he gets that from:rolleyes:). No indoor pets but sawdust from the outdoor hutch gets absolutely everywhere.
I was made redundant at the end of October and it would be good if I could make some money through trying to sell some items rather than sending them to the charity shops.0 -
I'm definitely in for this year.......I made a good amount of progress in 2009 but still have a huge amount to do.
The house is getting there slowly - so much better than this time last year, but definitely "work in progress".
My double garage is still full to bursting - with a combination of general rubbish, stuff to be stored/sold/donated and stuff from my dad's house which I never dealt with when he died, and which OH just boxed up and stored for me to go through when I am ready.......and of course I have never been ready
My loft is somewhere I have not dared to investigate personally, but when I asked OH about putting something up there recently, he told me there is no room........say no more......
And I have a log cabin in my garden that is supposed to be my work room, and which doubled as a "den" for the children in the summer, but which is currently being used for yet more "storage".
So, as you can see, although I have made some progress, I still have rather a lot more to get rid of.......I want to decorate through the house this year, and would like to consider moving in the next couple of years and don't want to end up having a mammoth task at the last minute.

Hello everyone, count me in too please. Our house could be really nice and yet I'm always in dread of someone calling unexpectedly as things are always left out etc so am determined that 2010 is going to be different. Today, I started by defrosting the freezer and sorting out my sons wardrobe - already have a black bin bag full for the charity shop so a good start. Aim to do at least "something" every day even if it is only one drawer - then of course must stay on top of the situation once sorted. Happy new year to you all!I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Hi
can I join please? Struggling to see my carpet in places, I keep shoving everything that's strewn across the table and chest of drawers in the dining room into a box, and dumping it in our bedroom, then I get told off when the OH can't find it! Resolution number one has to be to save up for some shelves. Also storage boxesand must force myself to get rid of some toys! Trouble being that the kids do seem to play with everything they have...
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -
Hi!!! Can i join in too please....am a big time lurker of this thread. forever writing to do list and losing them.
joining you guys will keep me motivated and keep track of my progress.
will be great to make a few pennies along the way too as am due in less than 3 weeks and will be a stay at home mum for a while.
subscribed in other threads too, the £100-£10,000 & new thrifty gifty, but haven't joined in properly. i just feel there isn't much i can contribute. but have been reading up religiously.
i don't think we have too much clutter in the house but i think DH will have something to say about that.
I want to keep everything and am really bad hoarder, everything has a sentimental value, useful or will come useful one day.
What do you do if you get rid of something and then one day needed it?
i think i'd be annoyed and will be blaming DH for making me get rid of it.
So...do i just list the stuff that goes in and out of the house?

HI
please count me in too. I have already joined the "no new toiletries" until I have used everthing up but that will take me about 3 years. I dread to look up in our loft. Apparently there are 3 prams up there and my eldest is 17! I would like to make a little money out of the things I no longer need/ use but I detest paypal because of a bad experience with them so I don't want to get involved with ebay.0 -
