Hi, can I join in too?

I've only been in my house 9 months but I seem to have so much junk!!
  • I'd like to join too please. I am just a bit too fond of hanging on to things just in case. Cupboards are stuffed and drawers are not to be opened! Can't wait for 2010!

Have mine and mother's (without her knowledge:confused:) to do!
Mother is having new kitchen on 04Jan10 - but insists on keeping old pans without handles etc... old tin foil dishes - yogurt pots - jam jars - easy peasy stuff to declutter but how do you make someone let go of it?
She has got things 10 years past their sell by dates and won't thow away!
I quite often say - that's handy can I have this - and take it away and recycle - but there is a limit!

Wish me and kitchen fitter MASSES of luck!

I am going to organise a 'Swishing Party' in the local hall - you take four items and go home with four items - remnants going to charity shop.
Glass of wine - chat - quick 'swish' then home! - sounds so easy:rolleyes:
  • I watched the 2009 thread, always thinking I ought to join in. Then came redundancy and Christmas so my good intentions flew out of the window. And DH is much worse than me

I'm very much in the "it'll come in useful one day" camp, so I'm going to use the scenario that if I lived in the Ikea show-flat (I think it's 5m x 5m in total) would I be keeping it?? If the answer is yes, then it needs a proper home.

Trouble is, I KNOW I don't live in that flat!! :D

    Wish me luck . . . . . . .

I did a huge amount of decluttering last year prior to my house move but I need to be doing some fine tuning this year. Trying not to buy things unnecessarily, and to fnd proper storage for what I have which I think is half the battle in getting the house tidy. First job is to organise my craft supplies ... I may be gone some time! :)
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Pending out tomorrow: 1 pair of jeans to return to a shop, possibly some mail, 1 big load of rubbish.

Pending out when the bag is full: Charity shop stuff.

In today: 8 cans of Kopparberg cider.

I'm determined to really declutter and am working on converting all my CDs to MP3 files and getting an external hard drive as well as an iPod so I can clear out most of my 8000 strong collection of CD albums and 5000 singles. Also working through my wardrobe and just everything I have as my room is an embarrassment and I want to be able to invite friends around.

I'm waiting on a freecycler to turn up and collect some clothes and books DD sorted yesterday.

I'm really determined to get rid of some more stuff we don't need. There's just so much of it

  • I am decluttering in 2010 too. Its desperate now - its been three years since I slept in my bed because there is so much stuff in my room - I can't see my bed or my floor, can't get my wardrobe doors shut and everytime I try to get ready in my room I am at risk of breaking my leg from tripping over stuff - please don't think I'm a dirty lazy cow, I got in this mess through illness and it gradually got worse as my life got worse and I get disheartened everytime I step into my room. I'm determined 2010 is going to be my year, I'm only 25 and I want to start "living my life" and doing the things I want and also trying to learn how to get into a routine so the things I want to do get done instead of put off like they have been up til now - a fabulous new life for me and my family starts in 2010!

I'm in as well please. Whole house , every single room needs decluttering. We have enough storage space but that is all so full of crap I cant get the stuff I need to in there - there is also a brick built garage full of stuff that we havent got round to unpacking from when we moved here 5 years ago.
