I've 'charity shopped' most of mine, simply because I want it out of the way and I know it would sit there several weeks while I sorted myself out and then I'd inevitably bring a load back from the boot sale...
If you are going to do one this weekend, or very soon, then go for it, but otherwise I'd say just get it out the way.0 -
I have a declutter dilemma. I separated from ex three years ago and have now come across big pile of photos from the time we were together. I would love to just make a bonfire of them but would need to save them for DD but I really don't have it in me to tidily arrange them in albums but somehow I would need to get them organised without spending too much time on it. Any ideas?"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I'm glad you are keeping them for your dd - my ex's mum destroyed all photos with their dad on them when they split up and they've never forgiven her for it!
How about getting a photo box rather than an album?
That way you can be less specific with arranging them, although you could maybe divide them by year? They'd at least be safe and she could flick though if she wanted.
When your dd is older, or shows willing, you could get her some albums and let her arrange them for herself?
Alternatively, could you scan them onto a CD for her and get rid of the originals - use a format she will find useful for printing or whatever though?0 -
3 Charity bags arrived yesterday but sadly all for clothes and non for bric a brac grrrrr but have half filled one with the DS's old school uniform.
I am trying to make an effort not to bring 'anything' into the house, well apart from food but the bits you pick up that seem a bargain am now asking 'do i really need it'0 -

It's tricky when you've got a child together isn't it? I can really relate to the desire to have a bonfire but I agree with Bestpud - go for a box - it's what I've done with photos of DS' dad (& there were a lot of them - we were together 20 years). Apart from it being quick & easy , I found that there was something about boxing them up for my child that helped me put them in their place and didn't make me feel I was trying to hold onto the past. Good Luck
Have remembered to put CS bag out with all the stuff from marathon de-clutter last week plus a couple of additional books - that's been it for this week not much in or out.Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

Thats lovely, and satisfying in a really positive way :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I've kind of stopped counting now as I'm getting rid of so much stuff I can't keep up!
Today's effort has been:
Books/magazines/more manuals/guide books
CD roms from long gone equipment
Set of shelves
3 pairs of boots
A set of hand weights
Some craft bits and pieces
Lots of old course notes and leaflets I've collected while doing courses
Ski clothing
DD has parted with 2 bin liners full of toys, books, videos and a few other bits.
Plus 3 bags of rubbish between us. I put 5 bags of rubbish out this morning and more than a bin full of recycling!! That's without the charity/returned to owner items!!
How did I get so much stuff in a 3 bed house?? We still have loads of stuff - it should be stripped bare by now!
More to come later as in still sifting through stuff that has been in storage.
:j
Keep going folks - it will be worth it in the end!0
