    Just being nosey...:D

How do you all go about decluttering?

I am a flitter so do bits here and there (in fact I do everything that way but I'm trying to improve).

Are you guys a bit more organised and doing it room by room, or area by area?

My way takes longer to make a visible difference, I think...?

I'm a flitter - I do bits as I see them or remember them. I've started a tab in my my budget spreadsheet so I can list things and then decide what the best way to get rid of them is.

But my decluttering is very minor compared to yours - I'm picturing you sat in an empty house with nothing left! :D
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

How to declutter .... well, I have an organised plan, but what I actually *do* is to do the bit that takes my fancy, or thats in my way right now :) It takes longer, but if the alternative is not to do anything at all, its still worthwhile doing :)

I'm a bit like you Karmakat but without an organised plan! Completely random declutterer. The trouble is that there is so much stuff that I can't get to the low-level stuff (i.e. room by room) until the major junk is gone. However, yesterday I was in the kitchen pottering about and decided to focus on the cupboard I keep my plastic stuff in. Tomorrow, I'll probably be back up in the loft. Weird.

We do a room by room declutter every year, usually in September, before the Christmas stuff comes in. I always start in the kitchen, because that's what frustrates me most.

Have completed downstairs. Did the cupboard on the landing yesterday. My ambition, since we moved in two years ago, has been to be able to close it. I knew that if I didn't get it closed this year, there was no hope. Spent an afternoon throwing things out and rearranging and just got the door closed when I realised I had forgotten to put DS's golf clubs in (why does he want some golf clubs?). Poo. Anyway, the door almost closes. I will now have to wait until they leave home for the rest.

Did the bedroom today. One thing that does annoy me is that other people in the house don't clear out their cupboards as well, so I have this space in my head that is still full of cluttered cupboards.

I need to get out more.

About to tackle the boys room... we took down the partition wall which has made the room look so much bigger, we're going to swap with them & let them have our double bedroom but need to clear out the tat & rubbish they (& we) have first if they're ever going to fit in it!!
Been feeling a bit down so figure a good declutter may raise the spirits... who knows!
