The Great Declutter Part 2

Crikey everyone is so busy on here - I can hardly keep up! As well as getting my neighbour into this I've now today got a friend into it - it's all good.
The only organised bit of my planning is.... that I either set a target (such as clear 100 things in 10 days or a really hard target like I did last week of clear 50 things in 1 day) or like cyclingyorkie a charity bag pops through the door and I think right I'll fill that with stuff to go.
Things are still poodling along here:
1 x bag of shredding
1 x another piece of PC equipment
I'm impressed when some of you say right that's that room sorted. I think because I still have so much stuff. However, I'm finding that by moving furniture around (a bit like the poster knocking down walls) you suddenly look at everything with fresh eyes and think why on earth am I keeping that?

I'm definitely a flitter, all the rooms have stuff that needs sorting so I do whatever takes my fancy at the time. Sometimes I do make a list of what I'm going to tackle the next day, but I don't always stick to it, lol!
Didn't have time to do much today, but did get rid of some more paperwork to recycling, and put a couple more things in the charity box.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Definitely. I think we get so used to seeing things as they are, we don't stop to think, do I want that? One of those that occurred to me recently, was my Reader's Digest DIY book - its a brilliant book, it really is, but my edition was published in 1986 :eek::eek: and the product information and the buildings control stuff is completelyout of date. I've just had a look through tho, and its got so much on *how to* that probably isn't on youtube, I think I'll keep it. Gulp.
Oh, I meant to say about the "how to declutter" - once the big things are gone, it makes a difference - on the free listings on ebay last weekend, I listed a tuner amp, a towel rail, a garden shredder, a cross trainer, four CD racks and 3 sets of micro machines, and all except the towel rail and the tuner amp have sold. It certainly means a lot more space - and a bit of money - tho since I'm downsizing slightly when I move house, it won't be very obvious to others - it will to me tho2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Can I join?
just moved house and going for the minimal look - but suspect at heart am a Victorian!
going to recycle today a load of pots/hosepipes/seed trays etc to a local Community allotment - not sure if all areas have one, but they said they would love the things I have, saves landfill too
have tried F---cycle in our new area, recipients seem to have a lot of broken down cars when due to pick up, but I will persevere, just the lack of courtesy I dislike when they fail to appear at the time arranged (by them normally)Carolbee0 -
This week I've managed to pass on a pair of jeans to a friend bringing my general total for the month to 35 and 3 more paperwork items have been dealt with bringing that total to 33.
So, 15 more general items and 17 more paperwork items to go today to reach my July target.
It's pouring down with rain so I won't be going out into the shed today so I shall have a blitz at my desk first.
Will post later how I get on.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -

Yes there is quite a technique to Freecycle. I dont always get it right. I gave a guy the benefit of the doubt and 10 emails later still nothing picked up. I didnt need the hassle. Couple of quick tips to try to find the reliable ones:
- have a look to see if they have given stuff as well as received - you can search their username in the search box. Help gives a history.:)
- be firm in your Taken messages and say if not collected I will then pass this to the next person who asked for the item - reminds them there's an orderly queue.;)
- be persistent. you do get timewasters. just then say you will reoffer by x date and do it.:D
Right back to decluttering, loved one has sorted out loads of PC bits and stuff. So these will be added to the list later. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

1 Charity bag out this morning full of old uniform and another one popped through the door by dinner time, one that takes everything, yipee, currently sat with a scarf, book and a boxed candle. I flit from one room to another seeing what I can spot immediately to get rid off and then go back into drawers and cupboards etc....
I definately find that a good declutter cheers me up, I love it best when the DS's are at school and OH is at work and I'm off so I can have a good tidy up and declutter0 -
I'm an occasional visitor here since I joined F***book! But i must get back in the OS way. Anyway have just done some shredding from my part of the filing cabinet - OH seems to think it has infinite capacity and his drawer won't shut - but mine will now!:A
2 charity bags out this week
2 bin bags from DS1 room -OH still working on it and is threatening to put all the books etc in the loft instead of to car boot:mad:
This house still looks like a total tip esp with the kids off school as they're doing drawings and bits of paper are all over the placeJust call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
