Hello all, I am interested in joining the declutter challenge. As I understand from a previous post, you can set whatever challenge and note the progress? Anyway, before I decide, how do you all define the word declutter?0

Define it as you will- some include general rubbish/ recycling, sopme people only 'junk'. I include things like my filing mountain being done/ shredded etc. It's what you want it to be - whatever helps make your home a less cluttered place!

Yesterday I de-cluttered my wardrobe, which has not been used for storing clothes for years as it had boxes of vinyl records and other crap stored in it, meaning anything that needed hanging had to be hung on an over-door hook on the door of the cupboard. The main problem with that is that the hook kept slipping off the door if it had too much hanging on it, and the clothes would end up in a heap on the floor. This happened yet again as I was getting ready for work yesterday morning, so I vowed to get the wardrobe sorted when I got home.
I emptied and washed it, then binned some things, put some things in the charity bag which came through the door, ready for collection on Friday (including a fur coat which I've not worn for at least 15-20 years!), and put the boxes of records in the spare room till I have time to sort through them. Now I actually have clothes hanging in my wardrobe, which is quite a novelty for me, lol! DP's wardrobe is the same as mine was, so I will try to tackle that sometime soon.
Today I posted 14 Ebay parcels, which meant I also got rid of a lot of the packaging stash, and offered 2 large mirrors on Freecycle, which we were given years ago and never got around to using, and they were collected this evening. Tomorrow I will see what else I can find for the charity collection.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Another full charity bag went off yesterday, today I have quite a lot of parcels to send for Ebay - did a bit more de-cluttering in the wardrobes and got rid of clothes that I bought that I really shouldn't have- impulse buys.
DS1's birthday today- he's got an Xbox- so how long can I leave it before I ebay the PS2;) we do have two of them as BIL gave us one:D0 -
greent - Thanks for your explanation. Decluttering is such a big topic so I will narrow it down to an August challenge whereby I can discover how the process will be money-saving.0
