Gubbins - what a lovely word. Haven't heard it used for ages!

I've had a good day tackling my desk and for the first time in months I can actually see it now. Still several piles to go, but it will get done now that I've started and am seeing a result.

My totals are now 63 from the paperwork mountain and 56 general.

I haven't counted in my total all the little bits of paper with messages, reminders, phone numbers (??? most of them 'cos there are no names with the numbers!) which have been shredded, because there are just too many of them.

Callisto, can I ask you, how do you clean demijohns? I have 3, and I'd be quite interested in keeping them and making something if I knew I could get them really clean? Not just previous useage, but *grubby*, sadly :(

Sorry Karmacat, just realised I hadn't replied to your question! OH says to use a tiny amount of plain (non perfumed) bleach, water and bottle brush for initial cleaning, but I guess you can use any detergent. If it's really grubby at the bottom - try swishing some rice or small pebbles around inside with a small amount of water, as a kind of scourer. Then sterilise before use, we used 'campden tablets' (bought from Wilko's I believe.)

So now got rid of 114 things in June so far (out of target of 150), with about only 43 of that binned, rest charity.

Well so far this week I have got rid of:

3 boxes of text books (Freegle)
Bin bag full of dusty old A4 ring binders (tip)
University notes which were in above ring binders from 1980's (recycle bin)

Why did I bother keeping all this junk for so long?

There's still a long way to go...

Phew up to 121 stuff got rid of in June, still on target to get rid of 150 things, only 45 binned, everything else to charity/friends etc.

You know finally things are beginning to clear. There is still a way to go. I just want less stuff hanging around, me having to move it around when I have the energy to clean...:rotfl:
