  • Went to stay with my aunty over the last couple of days as she's come out of hospital and needs 'watching' for 24 hours. We ended up spending the whole day going between tea and cake and clearing stuff out which I then took the charity shop so it was done and dusted and she couldn't put stuff back! Around 60 items of clothing and 50 books. Did manage to get 3/4 items of clothing and about a dozen books (which can go to the cs when I have read them). Haha I will infect all my family with my de-cluttering powers *manic cackle*.
Today picked up 2 nice pairs of sunglasses from the about-to-be-thrown-out lost propety box at work.

Hope your all having a lovley weekend in the sun :)

Managed to get rid of nearly all the rubbish today, just 2 rubble sacks left. We have bought £95 worth of materials today. We have built the new wall.
So, In: 10 sheets plasterboard, box of drywall screws, 6 rolls of insulation, dustpan and brush, 2 bags of plasterboard adhesive, and a chinese.
Out: 6 sheets plasterboard and 1/2 box screws attatched to wall. 1/2 chinese.

The demolish and rebuild will continue but we're having a day off tomorrow. We're going out for a nice walk somewhere, not sure where yet.

  • Well I think this thread is working for me.

Since my last post I have rid the house of old china, place mats, broken scales, ancient tupperware, shredded bucketfuls of old utility bills and more.

Things aren't actually looking much better yet, but I know they will.

    Morning all,

My plans for decluttering took a bit of a jolt as my young poorly friend is now very ill with cancer. So if any of you are taking stuff to charity shops could you consider cancer research as a possible home for your latest lovely decluttered items? All charity shops do fantastic work but my heart is aching, having lost my dad to cancer and now my best friend is battling. :A

When I feel up to it am going to sort out some magazines (and even glossy Sunday supplements) for hospital waiting rooms. As well as look at cluttery "stuff" I have with very fresh eyes.

    Sorry to lower the mood.:(

Here's to decluttered homes, rid of stuff we don't need or love and to raising much needed money during these tough financial times for charities.:A Plus many of our decluttered things that made their way to charity shops are also found by many other grateful people including fellow MSErs and reported on this thread, What frugal thing came your way today? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2279719

Lots of bday pressies for DS1 (10th bday whilst we were away)
    Plant from Eden Project
2 things from Heligan gardens to present stash for m-i-l for Xmas
CD for DD - she bought it
new carpets and underlay in ds2 & DS3'S bedrooms

    OUT
    old carpets and underlay
old car mats from DHs car (new ones bought at Xm,as and been hanging around since)
    DS3 hat - lost in Mevagissey :(
    various bits of packaging
    lots of seeds planted :)

Pending - 1 ebay item sold, awaiting payment.

Haven't you all been busy! I'm hoping to make some progress this week when some of the kids are back at school. DS2 is moving into his new room todsay - so that means that his and DS1's rooms can get sorted/ tidied. DS3's room still needs some painting - should hopefully be done next weekend!

have decluttered my first lot of bokashi compost into my compost bin. It seems to have worked - time will tell!

The aim is to compost all our food waste and therefore not have a pongy bin in the summer!
