The Great Declutter Part 2

Managed to get all the non ironing folded and put in the bedrooms it lives in (thanks DS aged 6!) and I did all the ironing. If you hear on the news tomorrow that a family have been found murdered and the wife is in custody then you'll know that I've got home from my night shift to find 1: that DH hasn't put away the ironing like I've asked him to do and 2: the kids have got up and knocked it all off the sofa onto the floor and left it screwed up where it's landed and 3: that this may well not be the first time that's happened!
Need to empty hallway as it seems to be full of parp at the moment too!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I have started making a 'string' quilt with all my fabric scraps http://loftcreations.blogspot.com/2010/01/while-abby-sleeps.html
It's a brilliantly efficient way of using up the scraps, getting the most out of the smallest bits plus it creates a lot of space
Oooh, I love your quilt....! I need to do that... I have hundreds of little bits in a crate upstairs, plus bigger bits (from 1 yard up to 6 yard lengths!). Would take me approx 20 years to use it all up at my current rate of sewing though.Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Just popping in quickly - lovely springy sunshine beckons me outside - has duel effect of no decluttering time indoors BUT less opportunity to clutter in the first place. Thats fine if the house is reasonable to start with (giving myself 7/10 on that one - sewing stuff all still out from yesterday as I am making a nightie - going well and total sewing time will probably be about 6 hrs in all.) (And that includes the time taken to rethread my lovely overlocker with white thread ... you have to have rethreaded an overlocker to know how offputting that can be!)
Anyway - yesterday
91. Olive oil bottle (contents amalgamated with other identical 1/2 full one)
92.Rather old pasta (used up in innovative salad - bag binned)
93. Committee paperwork recycled
94. 2 buckets of weeds (recycled through hens)
95. 4 items of junk post (recycled)
96. 12 eggs (sold)
And thats all I can remember BUT only 4 to go (its taken way longer than 10 days though...) Miffed that I still only have 2p in my roadkill jar but then again I dont get out much!
Off to the greenhouse/woods/garden/fruitcage.

'Morning Everyone ......
Must keep on top of the creeping lava flow of stuff - went out yesterday and had a busy evening (productive and enjoyable but busy) result is the d'room which was all tidy and looking like a d'room now has sewing and overlocking machines on table, plus scissors, threads, button box, fabric strewn over it. The floor is decorated with threads and snippings, the ironing board and iron are still out too. So I must do a flylady hour and tame it all (mixing my metaphores as I go! Hey I can multi task I am female!Ha ha) Desperate to get to the magic 100 here goes for yesterday:
In: Milk, spuds (we just used up the last of our HG ones from last year but this years are not yet planted!) ham for OH sandwiches
Out: Me (to lunch!)
97. Organics to compost bin/hens (actually the naughty dogs got to it en route so they ate the cabbage leaves - whaaaat? Silly dogs)
98.Junk mail (again - 2 catalogues, 2 letters, 2 fliers)
99. 6 eggs sold by OH at work (they cant get enough of them - maybe we
should get another couple of hens....)
100. AND FINALLY Ta Da .... bathroom empty bottles , packaging and general clutter.
Phew .... OK going to take a bit of a rest (from listing not from chucking/recycling/charity shop donating)BUT will organise flyladyship to fit into the morning hour when its too chilly, dewy to garden so that I keep on top of things. Its so lovely to have a tidy clean clear house and so disheartening when it all goes to pot!

If anyone remembers me mentioning coming home to find some of DD2's belongings after her moving in to her new flat, I can give an update.
A now happy DD2 is visiting for us oldies for a week and went through this "stuff" with me yesterday.
Result 2/3rds of a wheelie full of old cushions, pillows and a double quilt. Her old flat was damp and these things were going mouldy and only fit for bin.
2 washing machines full of good towels and a bedspread have had a good, long, hot wash and are now out on the rotary line to take whatever the weather throws at them for the next week. I'll then do a sniff test to see if I need to repeat the process. These are good things and will be useful too as the offspring have been depleting my towel pile each time they head back for another term for the last 7 years.
A decluttering failure to report. I thought I was being clever painting the woodwork in the bedroom with old gloss paint found in garage! Mistake it was too far gone and I have had to sand it down AGAIN, buy new paint and start again! Not sure if emulsion keeps longer than gloss, cos old emulsion was OK. The emulsion was 3 years old, I suspect the gloss may have been an antique.
Now off to do a little painting before getting ready for work.
