i did manage to briefly nip in for a read earlier but didnt have time to post
everyone seems to have done really well over the weekend :T.

I had a bit of a clear out in the drum room (middle DDs stuff is stored in there along with eldest DS drum kit and a load of board games) managed to find a bin bag of junk that wont be missed -old mags, out of date make up, a really scuddsy dried flower arrangement that was battered and covered in dust and a broken wooden art case. cleared 2 old pillows out of the airing cupboard they are ok just old so thinking charity bag (possibly animal sanctuary)

    OUT
    bag of junk described above
empty bottles from used up toiletries
hideous candle in shape of grim reapers head - burned over weekend then binned

    IN
    weeks worth of groceries
a dvd - valenties pres for dh
    milk
    papers and magazines
post - sorted and either recycled or dealt with.

    pending out
    2 palettes of childrens paints
1 over door coat hook things
filling another bag for church table top sale

  • Just a quick dip into the thread - Purpleheather - be srtong! Those Yummy Mummies off to exotic places are like hampsters on the wheel - running to keep up to keep running and so not having time to enjoy the simple lasting pleasures. I used to work with 2 high fliers who took kids away every school 1/2 term and hols - they were exhausted all the time because of their jobs so needed the hols to recover so they could go back to work ... you get the idea! So enjoy your freedom and relax in the knowledge that it isnt stuff that makes you happy its the 4" between your ears. Plus you are helping the planet so it will be a slighly better place for your sproggs when they are grown.
Tea and then the black bags for me!
    Hugs. MM

  • Hello all
Can I join in please. I've had a lightbulb moment after spending hours looking for DS lost library book - still haven't found it. Our house is sooooooooooooo full of junk and it's driving me nuts. Will start this week, one room at a time , giving it a damn good clean and declutter. Slowly but surely as I have a dodgy back at the moment - wish me luck :)

Welcome - I once lost a library book and in the end we were going to pay the library for it, then I sorted out some stuff under my bed that I had done for my Guide Hostess badge and there was a 'present' I'd had to wrap. I couldn't remember what I'd wrapped so opened it and it was the library book....

    Hello,
Please, please may I join in too? I found this thread and I've been really inspired and motivated by it! Made a start on the mammoth task at the weekend...listed 5 things on ebay last night, 6 more today. Took 2 huge bags of clothes for charity shop today and 2 work related magazines to a colleague. Chucked out 3 old pairs of shoes and a lumpy pillow and a battered thermos mug..a nd a mouldy pot of hummous from the back of the fridge :o
I had a box of empty jars by the back door pending delivery to the shed - but then I found 2 nets of reduced seville oranges, so the jars are now waiting to be filled!
Filled the recycling box with old newspapers and junk mail.
And even after all that - the house still looks as though I haven't begun decluttering!!

Had a day off today so went around the house looking for things to 'sort'. Told DD she had to sort at least 10 things from her old room which she did. I made a trip to the charity shop before she changed her mind! Will try for another 10 tomorrow!!
Still trying to get my new car into the garage - why does DS2 need so many parts of bikes (including 3 spare wheels)? Think I will banish those to the shed.

    Good luck all!!

Posted an MP3 player I sold on Ebay. Am delighted as it has earned me a fair amount of desperately-needed cash.

Have 'decluttered' a fair amount of chocolate as well. It was taking up LOADS of space in the cupboard...honest! ;)
