The weather here is lovely today, nice and sunny with a bit of wind.

Took some books down to the charity shop at long last, so that's about 10 books gone, plus one gone back to the library. Still got some odd bits I need to get rid of, but not sure if a charity shop would want them!

Bought some milk and some paprika so a couple of bits in.

.And todays plan is to de clutter my wardrobe of shoes that I dont wear , not sure weather to ebay , freecycle or charity shop them thow !?!!?!

I have plenty of dd's Clarks used shoes in different sizes...do you think I list them seperately on Ebay or a huge lot or a few bundles and do I list them with the boxes ?

Ooh well done on all of that!!:T

I've sold a couple of pairs of my shoes on ebay - they were all immaculate (worn to a wedding once or twice type shoes) They didn't sell for much, tbh. I usually just recycle shoes (in Clarks or Brantano) I'd possibly put any fancy shoes on ebay and charity shop or recycle the rest. I'm fussy/ funny about shoes,though...:p

Re your DD's shoes, I'm even worse where the kids are concerned - they alwyas have clarks shoes (but not wellies) and trainers. I don't pass them down, either.I have sold a bunch of them (in boxes) at a car boot - but only for £1 a pair. I think I sold 2 pairs on ebay - but only because my son had a really quick growth spurt and got through some quickly so tey were still in good nick. If you ebay them, I'd go for starting them at 99p so it doesn't cost to listy - and I'd sell them in the boxes if you have them - easier to wrap for posting too!
I don't even bother on the kids shoes now - they all just go straight out for recycling (although I freecycle wellies)

Not that helpful on re-reading.... sorry!!:o

Today I've been through a couple of boxes in the spare room and sorted out/recycled the carrier bags that were taking up a double cupboard (!) in the kitchen. Still need to sort out and box up my shoes, should be able to do this tomorrow.

    In

Nothing, other than weekly food shopping

    Out

Magazines, carrier bags and old paperwork recycled
Dress given to my Mum (as too big for me)
A box of Thorntons chocolates (half price at Morrisons) demolished by me, Mum and sisters while watching a DVD earlier!

    Pending Out

Seven videos, bag and photo album into charity bag
Quite a few calligraphy magazines and assorted ink (Another hobby that never got started!) Not 100% sure what to do with them yet, although I know someone who works in an old folks home, so will see if they are of any use to the residents or could be sold to raise money for them.

    Magazine for DS
    Waste paper basket
5 books from charity shop - 1 for DS
    1 Book from Ebay
    New toilet brush
    OUT
    Old Toilet Brush
    Parcel to Music Magpie
    Cheque banked
    Lost parcel compensation claim submitted
Loads of rubbish from garden - including a couple of rotten old shelves & 2 brooms (also rotten)
    Pending Out
Damaged pair of DS's school shoes. I bought him a pair of school shoes from a Sport's Discount store - He's worn them for 2 weeks & they've already got a hole in the upper. I tried to take them back but they wouldn't accept them as they said he'd been kicking things - which he probably has - but isn't that what 9 year old boys do at playtime? His Clarks ones didn't have holes for several months. I'm torn between writing to their head office or just dumping them & learning a lesson from the experience - ie cheap isn't always cost effective. Greent - you've got it right...

2 books (of the 6 I bought this week) for friends - a further 1 listed on Amazon

A couple of books I've bought this week, are actually for me to read - "A Life Stripped Bare" - About Living Ethically & the other is "How I Lived for a Year on a pound a day" - I've read that one before but feel I need a motivational top-up. I made a decision about a year ago to work very part-time & to do that I have to keep to a pretty tight budget (considerably more than a pound a day though). Most of the time it feels like the right decision but recently I can feel my resolve weakening & discontentment creeping in - probably as much to do with tiredness & the time of year as anything - so I need a little top up before I fall off the MSE wagon... Fingers crossed that the books will help.

Sorry for moaning - Tomorrow I'm going to do some Ebay listing - in theory... :o

Ms Halffull - you must write to the Head Office - I think Martin has produced a handy checklist of things to do when goods dont last or arent up to scratch. Will try and find it for you.

I decluttered the car yesterday. It was quite a mess. I am sure I will use less fuel now!! :rotfl:So if it's dry where you are - take the opportunity to give it a spring clean. I found some stuff destined for a charity shop about 6 months ago hidden in my boot. So off that went yesterday.

Also sorted out some out of date food - sis always welcomes this. She's braver than me!

Going to have a think today about my next challenge on the decluttering front. Getting rid of nearly 300 things has helped the house but there's still a way to go.

Do what Great Declutter 2010 things are you going to do/have done today? :A

Still been pottering about putting things out. Took a big bag of bits and bobs to the charity shop yesterday, DD sorted through CDs and quite a few of them went too.

De-cluttered some of the garden yesterday too but don't have any room left in the bin. Have decided that the wheelie bins should be full each time as they only get emptied every fortnight. Going to fill with garden rubbish if there is any room.

Bought a pair of boots on Friday and the box went straight in the re-cycling bin (Very good for me, it ususally hangs about for a week while I decide if I need it - I don't!)

    Keep going all!!

    Ebay parcel for DD
    Braun Tassimo machine
Morphy Richards Intellisteam, it is only hubby & I so thought it would be more :money: to use this than the big oven.
    Post

    OUT

    Veggie peelings to composter
Plastic, tins & paper to recycling

Shredded old bank statements, bills & old documents yesterday, sorted receipts & guarantees box & recycled documets for items we no longer have.

Cleaned hallway, porch, windows and put everything away where it should be, why do they not put their shoes away

Gave hubby all his tools that were left in various rooms to put away.

Sorted through kitchen cupboards & sorted DD's items that she has bought & never used  now boxed up & ready to go in the loft.

This has now freed up leads of space in my kitchen cupboards.
  • Yesterday I de cluttered some paint from the garage onto the kitchen walls. :rotfl:I am so pleased with myself. I tried to paint the kitchen in November 08 and abandoned it until yesterday. This has given me a much needed boost and I am sure it was having less clutter around that gave me the energy to get the painting done. I still have the door and doorframe to do but I will get them done (planning on it being this week).

Real de-cluttering is going slowly but I have mounds of paperwork to go through before I have to try to persuade other members of the family to part with some of their junk (sorry 'treasures').

Keep up with the good work everyone, slowly is fine, it is still making a difference.

    Empty
  • Not been on for a few days although I read about everyone's exploits.

Today I was helping at a boot fair/jumble stall at the local school in aid of PTA funds. For once, I didn't come home with more than I'd taken::T

I was very good, had a wander round the other stalls but really couldn't find anything I wanted that much, that I was prepared to part with any money for! I got my coffee free for helping on the stall, and a couple of bits that were going to be thrown out at the end of the day. So today's tally:

    OUT:
    1. Box of assorted glasses and china dishes (about 20 things)
    2. Baby picture book
    3. Floor jigsaw puzzle
    4. Box of assorted plastic containers/tupperware (about 12 things)
    5. An old towel.

    IN
    1. Soft toy (brand new, for charity tombola)
    2. A purse, just like the Spanish one I had to dispose of in January
    3. A "2 today" Winnie the pooh badge for my grandson's birthday card
    4. 4 bits from Christmas crackers for charity goody bags (will be going out again soon).

Still decluttering the craft room - this is an ongoing job that will probably take me months. I've put 30 items on Ebay and I've sold 1 item so far, and another 3 have bids, so there's light at the end of the tunnel!:D
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
