  • Hi, I was reading through your diary the other day, and just read your update from yesterday - congratulations on no. 3 :D how many weeks are you?? fingers crossed the tiredness and sickness doesn't last too long..

I really should start a diary soon, to keep me motivated as I love reading other people's..we're in negative equity as well, and while not looking to move, we're tackling the problem with overpaying as much as we can while saving for a wedding..we're also in a shared ownership house, so while our mortgage is only half yours (76k), there's still the other half to buy after we've made some progress with this mortgage..

Well done on today's overpayment and going sub 160k :j
June wins: 2 x Robbie Williams tickets, iPad mini, £200 skatehut voucher :)

A huge thank you to all posters xx

I have been checking your thread daily - you have me hooked! I don't normally follow threads on here as most are saying that they have £40k to pay off etc etc. Its good to know others have £100k+ mortgages and are working hard to get them paid off! Congratulations on going down to £150k something! Its like being 30-something which sounds better than my real 35 age!!!!

I am going to look at paying more off ours - but we have a fixed rate for 10 years (was a good idea at the time!) - 7.5 years left and we can only pay off so much a year. But it would be good to pay as close to the limit as we can afford. We tend to overpay our council tax so that we only pay it for 6 months of the year - then the remaining 6 months are worry free - so at the moment we have an extra £200 or so a month...until April of course - might put it towards the mortgage this month!
  • Thanks Pigtails_21, i am nine weeks tomorrow, having a fairly good day today, i am constantly eating to keep the sickness at bay. With every pregnancy it seems harder to shift the weight afterwards, so am dreading the "battle of the bulge" in september .
Weddings are so expensive arent they? I got such a shock when we were getting quotes for flowers etc. In the end we decided to put the most money into the things people remember like the music and food..........the cake was bought from tescos:D

Ihatedida thanks for reading, i was a bit put off when i read of other peoples really low mortgages as well, maybe you and pigtails_21 can start a diary and we can keep eachother motivated:D .
I know what you mean about the age i am 30 in June.....for now saying i am 29 feels so much younger........not looking forwards to being 30:(
Thats a good idea with the council tax. We are paying off a sofa at present (interest free) which is soon due to finish, that is why i increased the monthly mortgage payment by £45, because i havent had it for this past two years so i wont miss it:).

Shameless is on in an hour............please dont tell me i am the only one who watches it...........:rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hi Simmo 36, thanks for your post. I have already tried getting free broadband through sky but apparantly i can get it because of where i live :(, so i have stuck with BT as there customer service is good.

Hi WBL - just thought I would pop by and say hello as not too sure if I have time for my own thread but I am enjoying reading yours. We have a horrible dispute with our neighbours at the moment and its inspiring me to overpay even more!!!! I made an overpayment today of £62 which is £30 from Swinton (home insurance bonus) and £32 from Porcha Pig which I got my OH to count up earlier and run down to the bank! LOL!! :-) Hope you don't mind me popping on here. Hope you have a good weeknd :-)
  • Post away Ihatedida, at least i know i am not talking to myself and i love to here about everyone else's progress too:j.
That must be a nightmare with the neighbours, i am sure it causes an awful atmosphere for you. I think sometimes people underestimate how important it is to have good neighbours. At least thats another incentive for you to get rid of the mortgage, i think it gives us all so much more freedom of choice. Well done on the o/p, porsha pig is obviously doing the trick:T.
Got a bit carried away in tescos today, the girl was just filling up the whoopsie shelf as i passed...........so i couldnt resist a bargain......on the plus side the two freezers are full to bursting:D.
Going to a friends house for dinner tomorrow night and i have to say i am so looking forward to getting a meal cooked for me, for a change:D
    Have a good weekend everyone
