Thanks Button, Percy it is:D:D:D...hope you dont be offended it i dont give him his full title.................:rotfl::rotfl:. Just enjoying a wee cup of tea before work tomorrow..........dont you just hate mondays. Cant wait till percy arrives now. The plan is i will make the standard £300 overpayment at the start of every month and that any extras like money saved on groceries or another area of the budget will go towards feeding Percy In anticipation i have set aside £2 that i saved in tescos today by using a voucher :money:..... i can remember cringing when my mum used to produce the coupons at the checkout.....:rotfl::rotfl:.

Just a quick update, Car passed MOT this morning !!!:j:j. The whole thing including tyres and servicing has cost £350......think i have underestimated how expensive cars are when budgeting . The mortgage pig AKA Percy has arrived
......and currently has twelve ponds in his belly. Have taken the advice of others on this board and am trying to reduce the amount we spend on eating out.....so after a trip to M&S we are having the £10 meal deal tonight, havent tried it before but it looks impressive so far, although i have a feeling that OH may find the reduction in portion size a little to much to cope with...:rotfl:. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Hi WABL, any news to add to your diary today??

Thanks SMF2- so glad it passed MOT, generally the car never costs much except for a service and new tyres if needed, so hopefully that will be it for another year. BTW i just love all your wee smilie/icons that you put in your posts!!
Button- not much news to report, the grocery budget is looking fairly good and am expecting to come in under budget. I hate this time of the month because everything with the finances is so static and i am always waiting for payday so i can make an overpayment and rejig all the budgets and pots of money....sad i know.
Got a bill yesterday for land management fees for a BTL property for £485 . The house is actually our first home and when we bought the house we live in now we tried to sell it, but the sale fell through. We didnt have time to look for another buyer before we completed on this house, so we either had to rent it out or loose the house we are in now. We had the intention of selling it on after a year or two....but the recession hit and there was no chance of a sale and still isnt. I know that some people have loads of houses rented out and manage them all really well, but for us it is the biggest pain in the a*se, particularly as there have been FOUR sets of tenants and a few periods of unoccupancy. The most hilarious thing is when people find out you have two house they go "oh that must be great...etc" and think your loaded....:rotfl:, when in reality by the time you pay the mortgage (interest only), the rates, land management and maintenance it turns out to cost you a fortune!!! Anyway rant over, it has just been one of those days.....
On a more positive note received my £10 tesco voucher for surveys, so i put the £10 in the mortgage pig, i couldnt resist counting it............and there was £40 in it :j:j. Have a good weekend everyone, am just thinking here what i will make for tea.....pizza and chips sounds good:D

Hi Just started to read your thread. Sounds like you are doing really well. I am still lurking a lot and putting a few things in place. I have joined the loose change pays my debts and 10k in a year challenges to try to focus my mind.
I hope you dont mind me picking up a few tips from you. Love Percy. I have a pig at the moment that I put lunch money in. When I make my own lunch I put the amount that I would have spent into the pig. Where did you get Percy from he is cute. I might be persuaded to feed him more often! Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Hi Cherisong, thanks for reading and posting. I think its harder at the start to try and get your finances in order and work out budgets, i am really only getting into the swing of things now, after finding this site a year ago..........its like a learning process:D. I really hate when unexpected bills or things arise and mess up your plans but i suppose thats life:cool:.
The challenges are great as they give you the support of other and more motivation. I think one of the key things is being aware of your spending habits........pre mse i used to wander about the supermarket in a trance and just put anything i fancied in.........there was no meal planning, no budgeting and i couldnt tell you the price of one thing in the trolley!!! Now my mind is like a calculator and by the time i get to the checkout i can always estimate the total cost to the nearest pound..:rotfl::rotfl:
Glad you like Percy. In true MSE style i searched for him on ebay and the cheapest i could get him for was £10...but oh no, i was not satisfied with this and searched on google and found the exact same one on a site called Purple Puffin for £6.50 including delivery :j:j. My daughter is obsessed with feeding him and walks about with him under her arm saying that he is starving and asking for money to feed him...........it works:DCredit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000 -
Hi WABL,
I'm online so just thought I'd pop onto your thread and say hi!! Hope you're having a good Saturday night!
I was reading your post, and the bit about wandering round the supermarket rings true with me too!!;) Not any more thought.....I too am much more aware of my trolley!! (well, apart from my guilty pleasures!!:o see my thread for more details!!)
What survey did you do for a £10 Tesco voucher?? I have read about alot of people doing surveys and 'clicks' but am not too sure what it means or where to find them??
Oh well, off to watch a re-run of Jeremy Kyle!! Or should I admit to that??!!:o:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Button, having a lazy day today, im still not dressed yet:eek: DD was up all last night screeching the house down:mad: . The £10 tesco voucher is from valued opinions, for doing surveys. when you have reached £10 you choose a voucher-I always pick tesco so i can save on the groceries.
Does anyone else find this "paying off your mortgage" lark so slow at times, there are so many times when i feel like i am getting nowhere and get really frustrated:(. Me and oh have been looking on the net at houses in our area and there are so many lovely ones at great prices, but we cannot move anywhere because of negative equity:mad:. Hopefully in about another year or so we should have ploughed ourselves out of it, if we can stay focused.
Me and oh have recently discovered that we are expecting baby number 3, which we are delighted about :j:j. The house we are in is lovely but there is absolutely no storage and very little outside space as it is, so i can only imagine how cramped it will be when no. 3 comes along, but im sure we will manage
Have a good sunday everyone
