The short version is after another visit to the store yesterday - they refused to resolve the situation. I handed in a complaint and other info.
I got a visit at home from a manager with a bunch of flowers a letter of apology and a refund.
Thanks for the positive comments.
I under stand where the sceptics are coming from.
I know the truth of my situation - no one else does so echoing an earlier comment I got what was mine whatever way.0 -
lol - should've done what I did with some of the christmas prezzies I bought - I obviously had to test and play some of them to ensure they were working okDon't tell them your name, Pike!0

How can you judge a child or a childs behaviour when you dont know anything about them or the OP. Im guessing you dont have children or you would realise that for a child, opening a present then discovering the contents is not there must be very upsetting - nothing to do with being spoiled or being melodramatic, just to do with children, christmas and the excitement of it all.
Here here!!!!!!!!!
My daughter was 11 when I had to tell her about Father Christmas, if this had happened to her, HOW do you explain the situation???
I feel sooooo sorry for the parents..... I would be kicking myself if this had happened to me, its bad enough when you buy something for Christmas, only to find it doesnt work... but to find its not there!!! Im sure I would have died..
OP.... take no notice, and please keep us informed...0 -
Simple, when you buy it open the seal check if anythings in there - its like extremeley unlikly there wont be, if there isn't go and buy a new one.0

A similar situation happened to me when my wife bought me a Sony personal CD/MP3 player a few years back. The staff at the store (Sainsbury's in this case) accidentally gave her the display box which had just the instructions in it. Fortunately, though it was a disappointment at the time it didn't ruin my Christmas. What did annoy me was several of the staff looking disapprovingly at us when we returned to the store. Their barely sneering and sceptical attitude changed pretty quickly when they discovered that they had made a mistake.0

Hi
I am resurrecting this as I have just had exactly the same happen to me in Asda where I received a sealed box which on opening at home contained nothing more than a tin of sweetcorn wrapped in toilet roll.
I didn't open it until I returned home and returned it straight back to Asda where all of the customer service staff where very helpful and sorry BUT the DUTY manager basically told me that I had done it. So I would not be receiving either a refund or a replacement. I am now waiting until the Manager returns on Monday to See what if anything Asda are going to do about it.
Now I am over 50 and a member of my local church, what upset me more than not receiving a refund etc was being called a liar in front of at least 20 people who had gathered around the desk by this time.0 -
