Yeah it was me. Thank you!
It was massively undercharged at just £20 but i only let her give me the cost of all the materials because i didn't want to get into trouble for making profit whilst not being registered.

I do plan to register as self employed and get approved by the EHO but there is a big hurdle to pass first. I live in a privately rented house and i can't see them agreeing to it unfortunately. I'm still going to ask but reckon my chances are slim to none. :(

I live in a privately rented house too. Who do you think will say no, your landlord or EHO? I asked my LL first and told him that it was on a very small scale and he was fine with it. EHO didn't even ask if I owned the house so I guess it doesn't matter to them as long as the kitchen is up to scratch.

I meant my landlord. It is rented from a letting agency and the owner of this house is also the owner of the letting agency. She is incredibly strict about everything unfortunately. But i guess i will never know unless i ask...

Another longtime lurker of this fantastic thread here =)

I'm finally going to try and sell my cupcakes/cakes, I have had many many compliments from friends and family urging me to do it but I have been a little scared of making that first leap. I have managed to get two meetings next week with two very popular cafes in my city next week but need some advice on a few things first.

First, what does it usually cost you on average to make a cupcake.....not taking overheads here (feel free to comment on that though), I'm talking just ingredients and cupcake cases, decorations etc. I know it differs but a roundabout price would be great.

Also, where do you buy all your ingredients/colours/glitters/cases from, do you buy wholesale? I find butter is the most expensive thing...where can I buy this cheaper (I use country life or Kerry gold... wouldn't want to compromise on quality/taste though).

Also, I'm ALWAYS trying new recipes for the perfect vanilla cupcake and buttercream frosting, what are your fave recipes? :)

There are lots of links to places where we buy stuff. I get most of mine from supermarket and I look for them on deals, Tesco has 3 for 2 and asda have alot of stuff at a 1.00 just now. Cupcake cases I Like Asdas own make when doing just bulk, but I buy Wiltons for birthdays and gifts.

If your selling to cafes, then starting with Vanilla with vanilla frosting, and cased, and maybe some sprinkles, sell for a 1.00 each, if selling them yourself, then 1.25 upwards.......... this is going on prices in shops and cafes........ Costa is 1.65 I think and it tastes FAKE!

£1 each...really? It costs about 50p to make if my figures aren't wrong, and they will want a cut of the selling price too I'm sure...doesn't seem like it's going to bring in much money, I was thinking more £2, especially who I have meeting with, they're higher end cafes.

Much to think about I think, thanks for replying. =)
