    Hi Esmer and All

Esmer, good to hear you are still "in the loop" with this thread as well. You and I seem to be in the same position.

Hi, still here and just getting practice in and doing cakes for parties as gifts from me.
Have you thought of just "going for it" and wait until you are shut down??

Nope, the EHO officer that came after I appealed still said NO, so I think if they see me trying to register I would be shut down in the blink of an eye.
Hate to put what might seem like a downer post on such a positive thread, but maybe it is good once in a while to have posts like this that show that not all EHO's pass you automatically (in Scotland anyway) so that people aren't disappointed.

I totally agree here, Im happy and jealous at the same time with everyone making it. Not that jealous that I wont share my ideas or experiences......... Very happy for all that are Living the dream :)

  • Hi Esmer - that is such a shame as your cakes look delicious!

The new Government keeps saying it is going to get rid of lots of health and safety excesses.....maybe they'll have to re-think things like baking from home (we can hope anyway!!)

I do hope so, but when i move house in a few year, I hope not to be in this area, or I get a kitchen that they want. This was something I wanted to do when my little girl went to bed.

I have started messing about with homemade chocolates........ just as gifts for xmas and started a new thread :)

    Hi all

You cannot be 'shut down' for running a food business from home- unless they use it for planning issues etc. There has to be an imminent risk to health i.e mouse infestation etc. It would be nice to be able to close people that easily. Also am not sure what you are all meaning by being 'passed'?? I assume some of you have approached your council before you have started. This is not something you have to do, The law requires you to regsiter your business 28 days before operation- registration CANNOT be refused!!!!!

Esmer you should ring them and speak to a manager and question what they are saying to you

Hi, everyone just read 30 pages and this thread is fab :T

I'm rubbish at cooking but would love to decorate and came across this website ages ago. I had a go at the cake pops on sticks, but they're harder than they look!

So am i right in thinking that you don't have to contact them to make an appointment to get the EHO round to check the house out, we just register with them and if they want to come out and see they will?

Yep thats right neneromanova! We don't generaaly do any pre-reg visits even when requested as we are far too understaffed. Just register.....they can't turn up to a home address either. Law requires us to give 24 hours notice to domestic premises

*Dances around* Wooo, that's brilliant :D Not that I don't think I'd pass but that I don't have to worry about getting everything perfect for them.

So how do I go about registering?
