  • Hi everyone,

I'm trying to perfect my piping but only have a cheap piping bag with a couple of plastic nozzles. Just wondering if someone can recommend a good set with a few different nozzles for a reasonable price. There are loads on ebay but just not sure of the quality.

    Thanks

  • Hi ladies I have just set up a cupcake business. I have a facebook page as well as a website but can you reccommend where/how you got customers. I am struggling as i used to let people have the cupcakes really cheap or even free, so now I want to do it as a business people are put off by the prices.
  • Kelly_lou can i ask how you have gone about this setting your own business up - what have you needed to do in terms of your council etc. I have been baking cakes for friends and family and they keep telling me to start a facebook page up to sell them to their friends but when i mentioned this to a lady at work she said i would have to start paying tax etc. I have tried to contact my local council but they havent got back to me as yet. Any advice would be apprecaited.
  • Hiya, I had to register with my local environmental health, they came out to do a check. They were really helpful, asked a few questions and looked at my kitchen. I also have insurance and informed the tax people as I wanted everything to be right.
  • I was wondering if anyone could help?
I want to make Christmas snowmen or penguins for cupcakes.
I have White florist paste and White, red and green sugar paste.
I have the most of the bits required for snowman except his nose.
How could I colour the florist paste orange without have to buy a pot of orange gel or a block of orange florist paste.
As realistically I won't use orange much after this?
Ps I went to a Christmas cupcake class where we made these but I forgot to take some extra orange florist paste.
    Thanks
  • I've been a lurker for a while, and have taken the plunge and phoned the EH at the council and have been pointed in the right direction. I have to go to college and sit my food hygiene cetificate as my old one is out of date.

I just wondered what cleaning priducts I am meant to use, is it anything anti baterial or anything specific?

I need to completely gut, clean and re-wallpaper my kitchen before I even put the forms in but I'm so excited. I'm not just doing cakes though as biscuits are my favouites.

Haven't posted here for a while (too busy most of the time - planning a wedding, running the business & moving house at the moment) but I've just done my most successful event to date - took £360.50 in total, table cost £15 and I sold roughly 250 cupcakes. Well chuffed with that, wish I was doing a few more Christmas fairs now but then again a quiet Christmas with time to unpack might be nice!

  • Hello Everyone! I have been reading this thread from the begining for the past couple of days and must admit it has been very informative!! I understand that all EHOs are different but can anyone tell me if the fact I live in a 18th Century cottage with and this is what I am worried about, An original pammnet stone floor Will this be acceptable? It is in no way even! It has gaps! it is more like a patio inside!! Everything else in the kitchen I believe would comply but not sure about the floor! Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thankyou
