Wow Cupcake mummy how did you manage to get the bakers to supply your cakes? That's fab. Your ideas sound great. I went to Hobby craft today and stocked up on candy melts for cakepops. I brought a cakepop book and it didn't say to temper the choc but I have had bad experience with melting chocolate so think you really do need to.0

Oh my I just made a batch of cake pops. What a disaster!!!! Firstly they fell off the sticks!! Then the candy melts all cracked. Not sure what I have done wrong but I need to get them right as I have 40 to make for a party next weekend:eek:0

Start a decorating course next month and really looking forward to learning all the tricks. Plan on making cakes every day to get in loads of practice before I start. What do people think about freezing cakes in advance.
Hi, I think its a matter of personal opinion really. If you did decide to freeze cakes you would have to tell your customers as they would not be able to freeze them for health and safety. If I were a customer that would probably put me off as the whole reason for buying homemade cakes would be for their freshness.Mortgage Balance10 August 2011 £238863.97:eek:Aim: £220500 @ 10/08/120 -

Oh poor thing, I have personally never made them before but a fellow cake maker said to me you need to be careful when coating them, that you would have to be super gentle as they will fall off.Mortgage Balance10 August 2011 £238863.97:eek:Aim: £220500 @ 10/08/120 -

Me too, I have been trying to bake even just a simple cheese cake, and unfortunately it didn't work.0 -
Can anyone help/advise me. I have 100 cupcakes to make at the weekend. I usually have no problems but this week all my cases have been coming away from the cake. I don't know where I am going wrong? I have been using smaller cases than usual as the cakes are a freebie along with a giant cupcake and 40 cakepops!0
-
This personally hasn't happened me but I have read that there could be a number of possibilities:
-faulty batch of cases. Are your cases all from same packet?
- over cooked and pealed away?
-not cooled properly when stored and then peal away due to confined space.
Could any of these be your cause?

Not sure if it's any of these as I haven't changed they way I do anything. Then again it may be they are over cooked as these were smaller ones and so needed a shorter cooking time?? I have been reading up as well and lots of people say it can be do to too much fat? What butter do you use in your cupcakes as I use stork in my cakes and lurpak in my butter cream.0

Try dipping the sticks in the chocolate before you pierce the cake balls? That helps glue them on. Cake pops are a nightmare.Armchair shopper and cook - albeit with a ready meal on my lap and "plates of meat" in a foot spa!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
