Because I have Direct Line's Home Business insurance (includes public liability) when we moved our home insurance to them this year they didn't charge us any extra for running a business from home. Might be something to consider next year?Mortgage: [STRIKE]08/13 £28,896.49[/STRIKE] 01/18 £00

Thanks to everyone who's posted on this thread - I've been lurking for around a month, and found this thread really helpful and inspirational. The cakes here are amazing! I'm tentatively setting up my own business (Valkyrie Cakes) and have set up a Facebook page and website via Wordpress. Currently doing a few family & friends cakes, for a chance to build up my portfolio. I'm a bit of a goth at heart, so I'm hoping to have a bit of a niche market doing 'alternative'-themed cakes.
A big thank you to the lady behind Rainbow Delicious Bakery, who recommended using Tom Holmes for a logo design. He was great to work with and I loved the end result0 -
Not been on here much recently since starting up officially it seems like event after event and quite a few orders coming in now! I have also been having a dabble with cake pops and have just launched https://www.cakepopkits.co.uk for those of you wanting a little go at them! Would love it if you could take a look at my website or facebook page and let me know your thoughts on them!? Will have a catch up on here soon!0

HI ladies, not been here myself for a while, looking for a little help. My daughter is getting better, she made afab cake for my 3 year olds birthday, and her cupcakes are a hit with everyone, but she has very little equipment wise and want to do her a christmas hamper with lots of decorating and baking bits in. Can you point me in the right direction for a good nozzle set, especially one with a large star nozzle, and also what do you use which you find useful for cutting out letters, etc, glitters and also powder colourings etc, infact anything that you have found useful including books, she has a bacic sugarcraft tool set.
I am finding it so hard to support her, as most courses etc are for 19 years and above and she is only 15. and the course aimed at children are very basic and she already has a good skill level.
I so want to support her with this, but am at a loss of what to get her
any help will be greatly appreciated0 -

Well done on being so supportive - you must be really proud
TK Maxx is great for filling up a hamper of cake decorating stuff - they have a fairly good selection of cutters, smoothers, piping sets etc. Dusts and glitters can be quite pricey to buy individually, but most cake decorating websites offer sets of favourite or themed colours, which are good as starter packs. I can't post up the link, but for example cakecraftshop offer 6 Christmas-themed dusts for £9.990
