I'm so excited I just wanted to share it!! Had my EHO visit today and passed with flying colours :T
My inspector was lovely and said I keep better records than most of the big businesses he has to deal with! So its all systems go now, just need more hours in the day to bake!0 -

Hiya
I keep temperature records for my fridge, cleaning records for the kitchen and batch number records for each cake i make so if there is a problem i can trace the item with the manufacturer.
Anything I can help with feel free to message me0 -

can you elaborate on the batch number records? If you were making a batch of say 36 cupcakes in 3 diff flavours, what info would you be recording? Sorry if I'm being a little stupid with my question its just not something I had ever considered before.
many thanks:j0 -
Hi all, it's been a while since i posted on this thread. I have finally set up my business and have a facebook page, please have a look- search for Wokingham Cakes, I have some pictures on there of stuff I have been making, thank you for a great thread, it has inspired me to go to from timid to being confident enough to talk about what I can make!!!
I have a question, I am now wanting to sell at the market. Do any of you have any advice, tips and suggestions of where I can buy a stall? or hire one? Thank you, FiMortgage Balance10 August 2011 £238863.97:eek:Aim: £220500 @ 10/08/120 -
I was wondering if anybody here could help me, I'm in the process of setting up my own cake-making business from home and have already brought public liability insurance but when I rang my home insurance company they said they don't cover this business working from home so my insurance runs out with them on Saturday when my official start date is. I've rung around several over the past few days and haven't got anywhere (apart from a quote for £400 compared to £168 for last years!) and was wondering if anybody knew who would insure cake makers who work from home? Thank you!0

Thanks superwoman, I've got my liability insurance with Simply Business but when I rang them today they said they couldn't do both buildings and contents insurance as well. I'm not planning on selling at markets yet so am not sure if the other company would be suitable from what I've just seen on their website sadly.0
