I recently have become addicted to baking- I bring my resulting products into work- a good home for them.
What I wanted to ask was- I have found the hummingbird cookbook cupcake recipes work well for me.... if i wanted to sell them could i use this recipe or do i have to make my own up.... whats the regulations surrounding this?
Ive tried to find decorating classes in my area but no luck yet even posted on the local mse boards for classes- no response as yet.

I dont think so...... Then again stranger things have happened :rotfl: I do think, if that was the case then nobody would be able to sell a victoria sponge. I think its more copyright for character cakes etc............Saving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -
Thankyou to everyone that gave suggestions, iv actually found a place now that does them for a great price
Is there anyone in the southwest (wilts, somerset area) that would like to buy some '12 cupcake' boxes. Im placing an order for 100 but only need 30-50, I have someone else who said they would like 25 so we are looking for a third person. The boxes work out at 70p each0 -

Hey guys, I'm going to be making some cupcakes for my mum, dad and sister (two birthdays and Mothers day in the same weekend, I'm the only one who doesn't get presents!) and I need a little advice
1) Possibly something to transport the amount of cupcakes/cakes from North Wales to London in - I can possibly make them at home but I want it to be a surprise! Would it be easier to make the cupcakes/cakes the day before I travel down and then ice them at home, do you think?
2) I picked up some petit-four cases from Morrisons cheaply the other day, can they be used for little mini cakes or are they really truffles only?
3) Does anyone know anywhere - online, in store where I can get i) a decent muffin tray (my current cupcake one isn't deep enough) ii) gel colours and iii) some nice topping maker-y things (you, know the stamp things that you push into icing and make shapes out of...?)
4) also, a good red velvet recipe would be greatly appreciated! I'm thinking red velvet cupcakes for my sister, something lemony for my mum and maybe something with chocolate and nuts for my dad? Not sure but three different flavours.I need to better last years... The cake was tasty and the decorating was great fun but as you can see from this
picture it wasn't exactly perfect!
I love baking, looking forward to watching this thread! I'd love to set up my own cake shop one day.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
Ive recently bought some Cuttlebug embossing folders, they are used in card craft usually but they come in lots of lovely designs, just roll fondant onto them and then cut out to cover cupcakes, very effective, also ive bought some mini rubber alphabet stamps for embossing messages, have a look at your local craft shop or online ebay etc.
As for transporting your cupcakes, i put mine into cupcakes boxes and in the boot of my car i have got an apple box from the supermarket and i put cupcakes boxes in that to stop them sliding around.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
That's a great price! Where did you go?

they actually work out at 84p each as they add tax on when you go to check out but still a great price:j0 -
lauraw78 - where did you get the mould for the tools?
I have a cake coming up that needs tiny tools on it and have no idea how i'm gonna make them.
Sorry, only just seen this!

Bought them from here but finding it a struggle finding them at the moment, will reply again if I find them but I'm sure if you type in some keywords you'll find them. It was a silicone mould with about 8 different little moulds on them. Some of the tools I made myself too, easy enough really.

Hi Kim_Possible
I also find the Hummingbird recipes are really good - everytime I've made them I get lots of compliments!
I'm also struggling to find decorating courses in my local area, the local college ran a course last year but the tutor left so they aren't offering it this year which is a shame! Fingers crossed you find a course soon though!0 -
Does anybody have public liability insurance?
Where did you get it from and how much was it?
I know you can get it through the BSG pretty cheap but the membership runs out in April so i've had to pay membership twice in a short space of time, is that right or did I read it wrong on the website?
Thanks xx:heart: Think happy & you'll be happy

Hi folks! :)I have an order for a wedding. Tower of 48 cupcakes with a small cutting cake on the top with handmade, personalised bride and groom figures on top.How much should i be charging for something like this? She is a work colleague and i want to give her a really reasonable price, but as my orders are now picking up i want to start charging a little bit more. (Yes, i need to pull my finger out and get properly registered and stuff first!) The wedding is in July so i am hoping to be all properly up and running by then but she wants a quote now.I'm FINALLY debt free!
