I used a oasis from the florist and a cocktail stick for each cupcake. Have ordered polystyrene balls to try as it would work out cheaper.
Trying to think of something nice but cheap to weight the flower pot because i used plastic pots. maybe some coloured shredded paper compacted under the ball would work - need to try it out!
as it happens im off to hobbycraft tomorrow, and ive just looked on their website and they have a pack of 3 4cm polystyrene balls for £1.25, how does that compare to what youve ordered?***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -

Thank you for the lovely comments!
I have ordered 12cm polystyrene balls. I want to cut it in half and stuff the flower pot so it domes just under the top of the pot.
This is a 12cm pot for 5 muffin size cakes.
Im charging £8.50. A bargain i think! Get to keep price lower by using a plastic pot, they were 5 for £1 in morrisons!
Am yet to play with polystyrene - thinking it might need a coat of glue over it first to make sure it wont crumble. The oasis has held them really well. I planned on using 2 cocktail sticks then I forgot - its a good idea for selling them.
To keep the cost down (and becuase i cant find a box to fit) it will be wrapped in cellophane. The paper around the pot keeps the cellophane from resting on the icing.0 -

Code-a-holic - the cupcake bouquet is gorgeous! I'm wanting to give them a go for mothers day, they look so pretty.
My first wedding fayre was great, got a lot of interest and had a huge wedding order from it, charging them £250 which is still probably way too cheap but seems like a HUGE amount to me!! I'm making a good profit on it so i'm happy with the price and they obviously are, they're coming in a couple of weeks for a tasting, first time I could fit them in, i'm sooo busy!
Booked another order yesterday bit smaller but still a great order and she mentioned she might want a couple of cupcake towers, a COUPLE! Cost her a bloomin fortune!
I've added some pictures to my blog, I don't know if i'm allowed to post the link but i'll have a go, if it gets deleted, you can get to my blog from my website which is in my profile on here..and breathe! :rotfl:

Afternoon all!
Was wondering if any of you could help with with food colouring pastes...is there much of a difference between different brands (Wilton, Sugarflair, Squires Kitchen) or is there one that you've found is best? How much do you guys pay for them? Craft Company (hope I can mention names of places??) is the next town over to me, and they have the Wilton box of 8 for £14.99, and Sugarflair pots for £1.95 each, had a quick look on ebay and this seems ok?
Thanks for any help! x0
