Has anyone been to the Squires Kitchen Exhibition before? It's over 2hours drive away so is it worth it? Was gutted to be out of the country for Cake International at the NEC, that's way closer!

    ....

I've been to the SKE and the Birmingham one. Birmingham is far better than SKE -more courses, demonstrations, stalls, people even better entries in the cake contests. I was quite disappointed by SKE last year. But if you need supplies and you have a day for yourself than why not?!
  • Evening all.

I was wondering if i could have some advice??

I have been asked to bake a birthday cake for a family member as this year money is tight.

The child is going to be 13. She wants a number cake 13 but i have no idea how to make the 3? :D:D:D

    Any tips? :A

you can hire number cake tins cheeply from your local cake shop, its probably the easiest answer.

  • You can get public liability insurance from as little as £47 per year, and i also know quite a few people that have started off from hobbies and ended up as businesses. It all seems daunting to start with, and there is def a lot to learn but give it a try.

How does everyone transport their cupcakes?

I got a cupcake courier, and it carries 36 cakes :) I do have boxes normally as well, but I need to order some.

Where are you getting your cupcake boxes from ladies? I tried two different one, but I was not keen. Thanks

Esmer if i put stars etc into a cake i use florists wire, you can get all sorts of lovely colours, i bound them all up together with florists tape, fill a posy pick with sugarpaste, put posy pick into cake and then insert stars into posy pick, but for cupcakes if you cut the wire short maybe the sponge will enough to take the weight, but you should clean them with clear alcohol first, but youre not really allowed to put metal into cakes anymore or sticks, spaghetti is whats recommended. karen x

To those of you who remember, I was asking for advice on making a handy man cake. Anyway, I made it, and it looked pretty okay in the end, I was happy anyway and they were made up!
