  • Oh god! I have 3 birthday cakes to make in the next couple of weeks. Dunno where i am gonna find the time!

I really need to pull my finger out and get myself registered as i am getting so many requests for cakes now and i can't keep making them for the cost of the ingredients as it is taking up so much of my time.

All 3 cakes i am making are 8" round vanilla (or lemon) sponges filled with buttercream and jam, covered in fondant with handmade decorations to suit their themes. How much would you expect to pay for a cake like this?

i think £30 sounds ok, my tutor says you need to charge for cost of ingredients including board, drum and box and pay yourself £6 an hour, even tho im not a pro or running as a company yet, there comes a time when being kind to family and friends needs to pay its way a little bit.

I agree, i paid about 45.00 for a 40th cake. And it was not anywhere near as nice as the ones you guys all make :) Some folk wont pay that! Send them to Asda for an inferior quality cake with no taste. :D

Im just making them for friends as I cant get registered, but someone wants me to do her wedding  All cupcakes, for a small party.

I would also charge from £30 for an 8" sponge, it would depend on the decorations/time involved but it would be at least £30.

I've been decorating a four tier wedding cake for daaaaaays!!! :rotfl: It's so time consuming and i'm only covering part of it in flowers!

Got my wedding fayre on Sunday so I will post pictures afterwards. :D
