Erm, the aerial clip of the island shows a left hand arrow in the left lane for the exit, and a straight ahead arrow in the middle lane. If you were leaving the roundabout at the exit on the right of the picture then you were in the wrong lane. The left arrow in the left lane shows that the left lane is the only one for that exit.
Granted, he also shouldn't have gone right from his lane!0 -
It amazes me how people fail to read and understand such a simple post. The guy has even included photos of the junction and yet the thread is filled up with replies that make no sense. Rant over :rotfl:
There is a similar junction where I live in Ashford Kent.
The fault clearly lies with the old guy driving Subaru. He has changed lanes from left to right and hit the car in the right hand lane.
The Subaru driving is allowed to carry on round rather than going left but only if it is safe to do so. i.e there is not a car in the lane next to him.
I do not know what the insurers will do but you would hope they would use some sort of common sense.
I am sure people just try and wind people up on here rather than actually help.0 -

ok have you actually read the entire thread and looked at the pictures???
the aerial photo shows 3 lanes , left for turning left inside lane a38n
middle for left outside lane a38n or carry on round the island
right for turning right on island.
the markings actually show this clearly!!
anyway the markings have changed since that aerial shot to the markings you can see in the phtos i have taken!
the lane he was in is only meant to go down the inside lane of the dual carrigeway , the lane i was in is meant to go down the outside lane of the dual track or to carry on round the island.
he has failed to stay in his lane and hit my car by thinking he has the right to carry on round the island when the road markings clearly show that he cannot.
hope this helps0 -

Then one thinks, Subaru, head loose, boy racer incident? Next time do not race!
Next time one sees Subaru, think PRAT AND STEER CLEAR!
1. The OP does say that the Subaru driver was an old geezer.
2. My brother had a Scooby (which I got to use as well) and I can assure you, neither of us drove like prats (especially not when his new baby arrived, and the baby seat was fitted).Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

just a quick update.
the car has gone in to be looked at for repair, however i was getting messed around with a courtesy car as i have guaranteed hire car on my policy(fully comp) and the repair center said because of this they wouldn't give me a car.
so i contacted my insurance and they gave me a car through enterprise rent a car.
at first it was going to be a ford ka which wouldn't have been any good as i have two children in car seats and i have a 90 mile mway drive to work and back everyday.
i explained this to the chap and enterprise and he explained that if i gave him the deatils of the crash he would contact the other blokes insurance and see if they would pay for me to have a like for like car, he did say if they are not accepting liability for the crash then it would be a no go however they got back to him and agreed to giving me a like for like car.
does this sound good for me then ??
cheers

It does look like good news Steve, and is exactly what happened with me - got a courtesy car approx 1 week after was crashed into. You got my PM?
Youve got nothing to lose by continuing this as far as you can go and you wont be out of pocket for anything by the time everything is concluded. looking foward for any updates.0 -

I t was a Subaru Forrester..... not an Impreza STi :rolleyes:0 -
Certainly sounds like it might be going in your favour. It's not like an insurance company to splash the cash on a hire car if they are going to get the bill for it
My OH got a like for like when someone hit her (Still trying to work out in what way a C-Crosser is like a Jimny, but hey, it was fun) and they asked what car she'd need.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.

Not neccessarily, it could be a Credit Hire Vehicle supplied by a third party company that in effect the OP has signed a credit agreement making him liable if they cannot recover (The very high) daily charges0 -
Bit of a latecomer to this thread but for my own 2p, I know that roundabout very well indeed and you'd have to be lost if you picked the left hand lane to go into Bromsgrove. It's impossible to negotiate your way out of that lane without giving way to people on the right of you who are carrying on up the A38 and going into Bromsgrove.
I would never conceive of taking that left hand lane to go into Bromsgrove, even if I were being cheeky! If I were there by accident that I would be virtually still, indicating right and waiting for the traffic to let me in (in reality I'd probably carry onto the A38 N). It really isn't a simple negotiation of carrying on around the island when you've got two lanes heading left from there towards a 70mph road. It's the middle lane markings lead you very clearly over to the left for the Bromsgrove exit.
Hope it all goes you way OP - I'll be mindful your accident in future!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
