right guys, still not managed to order anything to make...but now Im thinking of trying to make tiaras for my wedding...just a simple design. Where is the cheapest place for stuff and where do I get the main headband bit from? Do I just need hairpins (is that the wrong word?!) ...the little pins that you thread beads onto....beads and pliers? I want sparkles and pearls on the tiara...

they are called headpins, you will need wire rather than headpins for a TIARA

theres a forum called beads r us on ebay if you join that someone there will give you a tutorial

  • A few years ago I made these using wire wrapping technique.

Red Glass Pearls and crystal bicones.

    Pearls and crystal simple band.

Pearls and crystal bicone half crown.

If anyone needs any help making their own please email me through my blog. Click on my username to find my blog link.

For the base and wire I would use silver plated.
I use a fairly long length of wire and start in the centre of the band with the highest point then continue on each side graduating down.

  • Hi Ladies,

Could someone help me out a little please? Im just starting out on jewellery making, have made a couple of things with some bts I bought at hobbycraft.

Im looking to buy some beads from the internet but am being a bit dim - if I was looking at say http://www.beadsales.co.uk/retail/#6331X8184 for example roughly how many beads is 100grams?? I know it all depends on the size of the bead but I have no idea whether its 5 or 50! Thanks

I bought the blue mix from PJ beads and 100g was around 40 larger sized beads.

    Morning all :)
Today is my birthday so I have booked the night off, so no work tonight :)

I am going to have a nice day making more bracelets (I need to justify my spend on beads lol).

I went into my local bead shop on Saturday and spent £32. I know not good lol but I just could not resist the beautiful colours :) I felt like a 5 year old in a sweet shop lol.

    I will post some pic's later :)

Hope everyone has a good day :)
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)
