I seemed to have stopped making stuff altogether. I should have more time as dd is at school now and ds at nursery til 12.
I love making fimo stuff but I seemed to have lost all creativeness and notion. I feel bad as j have loads of kit.
I just struggled to sell the stuff for what i thought they were worth with regards to how much time went into making them. Especially my wee teapots. I will make more again someday.

  • Fazeypie thanks for the tip about the magazine. I managed to get one in Tesco yesterday. I am just starting out with jewellery making ( really inspired by this thread). I have my own little helper as my daughter aged 5yrs likes to thread the beads. She even has her own bead loom that we are going to try out soon.

Oh excellent! Glad you like it. Nice to hear that you've got a little helper too, that's so sweet.
There's a link in this thread somewhere for a subscription where you can get 3 issues of the magazine for £3. I've signed up for it as I found the mag quite interesting :)
July- coconut body shop body butter, pom bear football, mini johnsons lotion, Sally Hansen nail treatments
  • Hi me again! just wondering how you all find the best ways to promote yourself? Ive got a facebook page but apart from the people I know ive not really got many other "friends" is there a way of suggesting your page to people you dont know?

I really want to make a go at making jewellery and selling it, as a hobbie for now but would like it to take off enough to be a part time job! Ive noticed some of you have hundreds of fans which must help with the sales

  • I find running a gveaway for a certain number of fans encouragespeople to suggest the page to their friends. Also if you find other crafters page, like the page and then post a hello with a link to your page on it. There is lots of crafting love on facebook :D. Alternatively I have started another page for selling novelty sweets and created its own profile page as well as fanpage. This way I can go and add lots of friends to the profile page and then recommend then to the fanpage without them seeing personal information and pictures of mine.

Well my page doesnt show my personal info, when I post anything it comes up as Beading Crazy has posted rather than my name. I think that might be the way forward for me, offering a little incentive! Ill crack on with it this week trying to get more friends then at the weekend poss set myself a limit for when to offer the prize x

Polo shirt and a hoodie with my banner, website and phone number splashed across them, usually worn when doing craft fairs, but also wear them other times, and always have a stock of business cards in my bag :)

I was thinking of doing business cards more for people I know to give out if anyone asks about something they are wearing. If you dont mind me asking where did you get yours and did they cost much? thanks

Business cards I do myself, designed it using the template in MS Office, and then just printed them on the sheets of biz cards you can get from Staples, WHSmith etc.

The first lot of polos and hoodies were done by a guy locally, they just have the website details and the phone number on, but we had a few problems with him.

The 2nd lot, that have the coloured banner and our names on them (ie my name on my stuff, my daughters on hers etc) were from someone we found on the internet, other half sorted them out so I am not sure where he got them from, but it was around £120 for 3 polo shirts and 3 hoodies, all good quality with print on front and back.
  • thanks for that!

if anyone wants to pm me their facebook page name ill add you as long as you dont mind me puttin a little message on there about my page :) x
