Hi Jo,
Your makes are lovely - I love the lego ones!
Thank you for taking the time to reply and the great advice. 5 x the cost sounds like a really good way of working it out and like you say it accounts for my time too (which I don't have very much of). That was where I was struggling to work out how much to actually price items at.
I've also had a go at making some Fimo items and they take a while to get right. I haven't actually sold anything before just been making for my family and friends (all of which have been happy and said I should sell some). Thanks again, Tarky.0 -
Hi All,
Can I join you? I've been making jewellery since about March and am totally addicted! As a new user I can't post pictures but I made the bookmarks in my avatar.
Quick question, if you don't mind for those of you who sell your makes, how do you work out how much to charge? I am doing my first fair stall in November for a local charity open day but have no idea how to price things.
Thanks in advance,
Tarky.

Hi all,
I've been following your thread with interest - and as a newbie to making jewellery I wondered if I could ask you all a question please.
How (or in what) do you store all your beads, findings, pliers etc?
I need to invest in some storage and want something that's good but cheap!
Many thanks.Sell £1000 challenge - £0/£1500 - No.80

Bear in mind I have around a shop full of jewellery making stuff.....
4 of these http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=185901&Trail=searchtext%3ESTORE+AND+GO
2 have findings in, 1 has all my Swarovski beads in and the other has my glass pearls, fresh water pearls and collection of handmade lampwork beads.
Loads and loads of the plastic takeaway trays with lids (available at poundland/wilkinson/home bargains), all with beads in and the over spill of my head and eye pins. One has elastic thread in and another is full of tigertail.
Biscuit tin with around 1 kg of 1mm silver plate wire.
Large Stanleyy toolbox with all my other wires in (different thicknesses, memory wire etc, and my KO thread)
Nother toolbox with all my Fimo and tools in.
Various other trays/boxes etc with charms, beads and stuff in.
Oh and one of those large 3 plastic 3 drawer cabinet things, full of seed beads.
Tools are kept in wire cutlery holders (and scattered all over the desk)
Finished jewellery in plastic zip lock bags in a larger plastic storage box.
Well all the above is the plan, looking at my desk I can see bits and pieces everywhere that really need putting away :rotfl: including £70 worth of Swaovski crystals just thrown to one side out of the way of my keyboard (to be fair, they only came this morning and I am still drooling and stroking them!)0 -
Jo -what lovely things on your blog........:T Such a good selection
Giggles...........love the buttons bag charm.........I love buttons but haven't got any pretty ones like that. Been working my way down mums button jar with making button necklaces so now I'm down to little white ones and a few grey mottled sort -have to get some moreI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Thanks Jo, that list has given me some storage ideas to start with. I hadn't thought of the plastic take-away trays and the Homebase storage looks brilliant.
Right - I'm off to pinch my OH toolbox!!Sell £1000 challenge - £0/£1500 - No.80

I just make as a hobby so I dont have nearly as much as Jo, shes a marvel for keeping all that organised! I use a plastic storage box from Asda for bits n pieces (£3) and then I have since bought 4 storage trays from Qaulity Save. They have small for 79p, medium for 99p and large for 1.29 and I have 4 medium ones. They are about 1.5in deep and mine has 12 compartments, perfect sizefor the packs of beads I buy. One I have used to just store charms in the other 3 beads. You can buy specific jewellery ones for much much more but they are no different! So try your local Quality Save if you have one and if not try pound shops you may have.
And welcome to the thread0 -
Thank you for the welcome. I've also got the storage boxes from Quality Save, they are with the DIY things in my local one, think they are supposed to be for nails etc but are great for beads. Hadn't thought of the take-away trays, good idea.
I would like to join in the 'Christmas' challenge but how would I post a picture being a newbie?0 -

Mine are with the stationary... random hahaha
I think you can post a picture/link once you have posted a certain number of times. And as there is quite a while till the end of the challenge ifyou just keep posting till then you should be able to start soon. I cant remember how many posts it is now, can anyone else?

Ok, I'll join the challenge if I am able to post pictures before the deadline.0
