Your welcome Cafty Juju
Sorry I havent set the challenge before but I woke up this morning with flu like symptomsbeen feeling sorry for myself all day on the couch!
Ive been having silent arguments with myself on what to do for this challenge as nothing instantly struck me like last time. But I have finally made my decision!
The jewellery challenge this time will be.... CHRISTMAS!
Uh oh dont shout at me! But this is my favourite time of year by far and its been on my mind constantly for the last few days. So for this challenge you can either do a christmas themed item (anything) or make something that you will be giving as a gift for christmas to someone.
With it being school holidays and what not I know everyone is so busy so I am going to give us 2 weeks to complete it so everyone has time to get involved. So the deadline is 10pm on Tues 7th September.

Am feeling a little better today thank you.
I used my make for the button charm as a giveaway on my facebook fanpage, Was on 59 fans so thought I would give it away when I reached 100 fans expecting it to take about a week and a couple of hours later I was already on 100! And am now on 197 fans! Was and still am totally bowled over by it! I think most of it is down to Crafty Juju so thank you for getting to ball rolling. Hi All,
Can I join you? I've been making jewellery since about March and am totally addicted! As a new user I can't post pictures but I made the bookmarks in my avatar.
Quick question, if you don't mind for those of you who sell your makes, how do you work out how much to charge? I am doing my first fair stall in November for a local charity open day but have no idea how to price things.
Thanks in advance,

As I do this for a 'living' (ha, that's a joke at the moment), you need to work out what the components have cost, then how long it has taken you to make, (don't forget that you have to pay yourself something from it)
As I have a lot of beads and stuff, I bought a program that lists them all, and how much they cost, then when I make a piece, I add it to the inventory, and list the recipe and it takes those items out of stock and gives me a cost price for it. I don't bother listing threading materials or things like jump rings or oddments of chain, and then work it out from there, I usually go for the 5x cost figure as I don't inlcude my time in the costings, so that usually covers it. (first time making something new can take ages, after that you tend to get quicker with that technique)
Once I have the 5x cost price, I then am in a position to round it down a little, all depends on what I think it will sell for, sometimes it comes up with a scary high figure (like a Swarovski jewellery set that actually cost me over £30 in beads), it leaves me some room for flexibility.
Also the same item made with different beads can vary the price, I made a flat spiral bracelet with fire polished beads and it sold at £15.00, the same bracelet made with Swarovski crystals went very easilly at £35 (the Swaros in it were in excess of £5.00)
Do not underprice/undervalue yourself, we all have the cheap as chips items, but don't be tempted to just set a price that only covers the beads/components, you need to make something out of it as well.
Oddments of beads can be used to make earrings with, these are usually my £1 bargain items, and help towards making the stall fee.
I find that working with the 5 x cost covers my time, (and time spent learning a new technique), website costs, stall fees things like that, there are times that I make items/beads with polymer clay, so need to factor in the cost of the gas for cooking them etc, so this way tends to cover all the little unseen overheads as well as covers the cost of the materials.0
