Loads of the gals on here sell their makes. If you click on their username then select Visit whoevers homepage then it should take you to their facebook/folksy/etsy shops :)

Havent really made much stuff the past couple of years but found some lovely jewellery here - http://www.whitestuff.com/showall/true/jewellery-CA_W_JEWELLERY/ - and reckoned i could recreate it a lot cheaper !!

Have been looking around to try and find some nice beads to recreate pieces like this and found some nice beads on beads direct and beads by Lili websites but was wondering what any of you beaders would suggest for stringing - I know most of it isnt wire - but not sure that waxed cord is the way to go - any suggestions???
Thank you - actually getting a tad excited about getting some beads again .............. :-)

  • Sorry I havent been on, my internet has been playing up. Thought I had managed to post the other day before it decided to disconnect again but it mustn't have gone through before the net disconneted.

    What I said was

Me and Crafty Juju have had a chat and we think its probably best that we dont do the challenges anymore for the time being, as I think everyone is so busy at this time of year. We have loved doing the challenges so dont want to stop doing them all together so though it would be best to postpone them till january when we are all on the christmas come down and could so with the motivation and inspiration :D

Thats not to say we dont want to see pics of everyones lovely makes still though :D

was on this thread a few months ago, just been lurking since. After I discovered the thread I got quite into jewellery making but only managed earrings and memory wire bracelets.

I want to try something else new but not sure what. Can anyone recommend anything? Don't think I could do fimo as that's too fiddly for me, more bracelets and necklaces I think but just need some inspiration and nothing too ambitious. Happy to follow tutorials if anyone has some!

If some are good I might use them for Christmas presents!

    Sorry for rambling!

    TIA

Don't know if you are already aware of this but this month's make jewellery mag has a tesco exclusive. It's £7.99 and includes a tray of beads and findings worth £12.99. I bought one today at my tesco and I'm quite happy with it. It contains info on different jewellery makes for beginners and more seasoned jewellery makers as well as ads for suppliers. Info here at bottom of page-

Some of the things look pretty easy. There are a few tutorials in there which show step by step guides on knots and basic wire loops and which pliers to use for what. Alas, the makes don't include the beads, I guess they can't do that with the bead kit only being available at tesco.
Try YouTube for video tutorials. Try typing in things like jump rings tutorial or whatever you are interested in doing. YouTube has videos on everything!
I bought the 'polymer clay cookbook' from amazon. It has some basic cute fimo food charms in but also has some handy step by step info on making wrapped loops, stringing beads, using crimp beads. There are some basic kits on eBay too that include basic jewellery making books. Just type in jewellery kit.
Other than that, try to look through this thread when you have the time, there's loads of great info here from which shops and eBay sellers to use to setting up your own little craft store to sell your makes!
Try charity shops, car boot sales and primark for cheap jewellery to pick apart and use, or even to study the way different pieces have been made.
I've bought so much stuff, I haven't had time to use any of it as I'm a complete geek and still in my 'research' stage before I throw myself into the actual making lol!
Hope you enjoy getting into it as much as I am!
