I'm just really using portion control and trying to cut down on the crisps and things. I don't have a huge amount to lose but it is the maintaining I find hardest.

I just need to eat a little less. Exercise would be good too but I haven't yet found a exercise routine that I don't hate and that fits in with my lifestyle which is pretty much sedentary.
  • I've been AWOL because I've been very bad too. Didn't get weighed at work this morning but may do tomorrow-otherwise it'll be thursday.
I was doing really well and then started binging on tuesday evening and have been a pig since!
It is 10 1/2 weeks to my holiday and I really would like to be a lot less by then. So I have planned my food for tomorrow and have a few cals left for a small evening treat. I WILL exercise tomorrow and will make myself post tomorrow night to tell you how I've done.
Well done to everyone who's lost-I think I need to convince myself somehow that I can do this.

  • I find that just cutting down my portion sizes on every meal has done the trick for me and most importantly cutting out (nearly! ;)) chocolate. I've switched to having special 'K' for breakfast most mornings, but sometimes I have toast or shreddie's/krispies/cornflakes, with a lot less milk than I had before too. Lunch used to be a cheese sandwich - nearly every day - or cheese and ham or cheese on toast :o , so have swapped cheese for baked pots, boiled/scrambled eggs, soup, and sometimes ryvita with ham, or if I do have cheese, instead of a thick wedge, I have grated. Tea remains the same, just a smaller portion, even friday night chippy, is usually a handful of chip's and a battered sausage with mushy peas. No bread like before - usually 2 slices and a large portion chips and 2 sausages or fish/pie/chicken. Too be perfectly honest...... I WAS A PIG!!!!. I do surprise myself every week if I do manage to lose, cos I really don't do much exercise, apart from the school run, swimming is the best for me though, need to fit it in again  as I could easily lose a pound just by doing that every week.

Sorry for the long post, HTH though!!! :)

Tara time to change your thinking pet, try and focus on the positive (yes i had a slice of cake...but all that matters is i didnt have two kind of thing) get a notebook and keep a food diary be harsh with yourself and write down everything you eat with the time, so you have a true account of what your eating and when. Are you eating because your bored? start doing something that keeps your hands and mind busy crafts like cross stitch are great for killing hours before bed. just keep at it and it will happen :)

...actually (lightbulb moment) Tara i offer up a challenge to you :D
you will need to invest in a pedometer, (you can get them for a couple of £ or pm me your address and i will send you one)

Then start a new thread a step's challenge.
Google says there is 2000 steps in a mile and there is 603 miles from Lands End to John o' groats (see where im going with this :rotfl:) record your steps each day and find out how long it would take to walk it.

I would join you, im sure the other's would too...I will volunteer Amanita:D(will get you moving :p)

Thank you for all the lovely supportive comments last week when I put on weight.

I've been to the gym twice this week and am delighted to report a loss of 2lbs.

I had wanted to lose 7lbs this month as its my birthday on the 31st. As it stands, I've broke even so hopefully will have a consistent loss this coming week.

I had one :p- you'd be shocked at my daily total. I'm lucky if I do 350 steps a day :( and that includes walking to the photocopier and printer myself rather than delegating.... It wasn't so bad when I was in the city centre, I would park in a distant car park and could generally manage 2000 steps a day.

Now I have allocated parking 10 ft from the front door on a business park by the M5 and no reason to walk anywhere. I leave the house at 7.30 am and get home about the same time in the evening. I don't often get the chance to get out at lunchtime either....and then there is nowhere to go!

There is a Curves opened up near my home village but I'm just too tired in the evening.

I need to do something though.

I know this exactly and I don't miss those days AT ALL! Up at half 5 then not in again until after 11 at night then the whole weekend spent catching up on sleep! So glad those days are gone but believe it or not that when I was at my thinnest AND fittest - now that I've been made redundant I am a complete slob, can't be bothered to do anything and have put on 3 stone in the past 6 months! - but you know what they "if you want something doing ask a busy person" and it's true, I used to manage to get EVERYTHING done, now picking up the remote control is an effort! But anyway what I used to do was this....I had a 'lateral thigh trainer' - I'm sure you must have seen then on the telly - it came with a 20 min workout dvd so I'd prize myself out of bed just a little earlier and do that before my shower and it really did perk me up in the mornings. Then in the evening I used to do 20-30 of pilates, also from a dvd which is really good because it takes hardly any effort and doesn't wake you up before bed time in fact it is very relaxing. Anyway I know you're probably thinking that I'm talking nonsense since I'm now a slob but it won't be forever I just have more important things to think about at the mo like getting some work, finding some new friends since I've had to move etc but I will be back on the gorgeous bus before this new year is through, you mark my words!!!! :j Sorry for the length of this and good luck to ALL OF YOU!

Are you near where your picture is of? If so you'd be welcome on a dog walk with me ;) I could bring them over there for a nice ''level'' walk IYSWIM.
