It is highly unlikely that a US keyboard would get past quality control at Argos. I have never seen or heard of that before!!
Go back to Argos, they've probably already been breifed on the issue, if not then just show them...Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
well IFthe @ is accessed thru typing 2 and shift, then she has got a dodgy msi netbook from argos. I've got three in our family and if we type 2 plus shift we ALL get "
And we have all three colours so it's not dependant on the colour either LOL0 -

I have to try and use the European (French) keyboard on BF's Mac which is currently set to UK settings and a QWERTY keyboard. Now THAT'S a problem! Luckily he's going to buy an overlay... When I was in Portugal I went to use an internet cafe, I couldn't find anywhere on the keyboard where the '@' symbol came from so had to copy and paste one from the Hotmail log-in page so I could enter my email address to check my email. I felt like a bit of a prat! What's Portuguese for 'where the $%#& is the '@' symbol?'.
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

Hi - would like to thank all for their helpful advice
i phoned argos tech department who sorted the problem.
all though the settings were all uk - the keyboard was still US which i had to highlight - apply then remove.
This then fixed the problem.
All this was in the regional settings.
thanksbargain babe0 -
So it was a setup issue not a hardware one then0

I thought the @ was above the 2.
3 pages of confusion when the first reply explained what the problem was!0 -
LOL at this thread.
Its a good thing the OP didnt have her copy of "martin lewis's version" of Consumer rights to hand or she would have made an !!!! of herself.0 -
I am sorry but unless you meet some total burk at CS they will laugh you out of the shop. I've been working in IT for 15 years and this is the clearest case of US settings yet. Just change to UK. go to Regional Languages and then Keyboard and remove anything to do with US and it will work I promise you - and it saves the embarassment.
