Honestly I reckon if hubby knew where I got the ideas for so many stitchy goodies he would be password protecting the computer :rotfl::rotfl:

Does anyone else use one of those metal needle threaders to get a couple more stitches out of the end of their thread?
I hadn't thought about it until the other day when I thought I had finished a section so went under some stitches on the back and trimmed the end off the thread. I then realised I had missed 2 stitches and had no more of that colour left!
I thought about modifying it by either using another colour or leaving the stitches out completely but on looking at the finished picture neither of those were a possibility.
I unpicked a few stitches and put in the ones I had missed but then was still left with very short thread and obviously still had 2 stitches missing. I ended up putting the needle halfway through the fabric, threading it with needle threader, then pulling it through and repeating until finally I had got another 2 stitches out of the thread.
It's a bit fiddly but now I do it at the end of a length of thread everytime and usually end up getting an extra 2 or 3 stitches out of my thread where previously I thought it was too short to do any more with.

Reading that back it seems a bit rambling but I know what I mean :rotfl:

Tbh shelly, it's a great idea for conserving and getting the most out of your thread but I am FAR too impatient to fiddle about doing a technique like that :o

I would just buy more thread...Martin would be ashamed of me :p

I'm sure there are less slapdash people than me who will utilise your tip though :D

I know what you mean. If I'd had some more stitches of that particular colour to do I'd have bought another skein but as I was only 2 stitches short I was up for trying anything :D

I've done that a couple of times but my biggest pet hate is when you have 2 half stitches left...... or worse 1........ and you reallly can't make the thread stretch anymore and HAVE to start a new piece!!!!!

And finally, here is the sheep. Matching pig and cow to follow if I can ever get the pics off my phone.

Sorry, it wasn't supposed to be that big but my only other option is tiny. Not sure why I can't resize. Something else to ask my brother about tomorrow

    Morning Ladies

Harley, the sheep looks sooo cute, cant wait to see the others!

I'm nearly at the end of my Samurai Warrior so once I nip out to the shops to get some bits and pieces I plan to sit and stitch until the bloomin thing is finished....well it is snowing outside so its a good excuse!

I'm so jealous of you lot starting your new projects, I'm starting to turn green with envy!

    Have a good weekend everyone!

    Hello ladies

Please help, I have abandoned the idea of stitching something for my dad for his birthday, but I still have the aida I bought for it. Its 27 count. There is a sampler I want to do for my friends wedding (end of Nov - so should have time!) but the magazine only gives how much 14 count you need - which is 25x33cm (10x13in) and it says when framing a minimum aperture of 18 x 23cm (7x9in) so can I do it on the 27 count and how much do I need?

    Thanks

    Elaine

Giving it a bump as I'd like to start it today:D - but not sure how big I should cut the fabric :o

    Thanks
  • just thought i'd share this handy gadget for calculating your aida........... http://www.123stitch.com/aidacalc.html
