I've not trawled back through this thread so forgive me if this has already been posted.

This is my very favourite website, and although it's in the US I have still managed to get reasonably priced charts and kits even allowing for postage costs.

I use this company too. I usually do an order with them around the time of my birthday & treat myself to some new charts. Service is great & prices are good.

  • hi i have just finished my crochet pillows and now my cross stitch pattern has arrived it is Good morning cockerel , the thread key gives me a list of either dmc or anchor or madeira, which is the best make to use please, and am i to asume that it just one of each colour listed. Sorry for being a bit daft :o

As a personal preference I use DMC.

The main reason is that most charts use DMC thread so if you have thread left over you can use it on another project.

You can convert anchor/madeira threads but that takes more time.

What do you mean by 'one of each colour' listed? Without seeing the chart it's hard to figure - does it give you the number of metre lengths you need?

right dmc then, um no it just lists numbers of cotton ie 350 light red and the only other things it says is threads : stranded cotton as listed in the key. cross stitch in two strands. if its any help its just three pages out of The World Of Cross Stitching mag, I got it off ebay as I was looking for a cockerel pattern to match my kitchen :D thank you for your help

Unless it's massive, 1 skein of each should be more than enough.

You shouldn't be tempting us like that Mrs M, though apart from a few bits & bobs, like you I have been able to resist...so far!!

I know I should be getting on with the Astronomer, but I want to do a quick Valentine card for DH...shouldn't take long...though I still can't decide which design to do...don't have many love-type designs that aren't too soppy! I have found a nice Celtic knotwork design to make a bookmark him for his birthday (March 17th), but I want to do a heart card for Sunday...just think I will do a simple red heart on some of my Antique White 28 count. I have red blank cards I can use, must rout them out so I can get a thread to match the colours...surely I have something that will do!!!

Will pop back later to report my success...or lack of it!

Wow Louise your picture is coming on so quickly, wish I could stitch as fast as you! It doesn't seem very long ago that you put the first stitch in and here it is on the last stretch. Will you frame it yourself or go to a framer's?
