That is bad news Chicky. Do you think you might be able to read the contents of the drive on another computer?
Mine "died" on my old lappy, and I bought a cable on dabs.com (e-sata or something) and it let me get all the data off my old drive... Worth a go when you've got the new lapster maybe xx0 -

ohh worth a look. we've tried an ethernet cable but couldn't pick it up, and for what is lost its not really worth the £99+ for it to be retrieved professionally.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Sew and so do ship internationally if that helps?
As for directionality of my stitches, it's usually bottom left to top right and the bottom right to top left. But I do change this depending on where I'm stitching next or to secure my thread at the back.
I completed a small teddy bear stitch yesterday while at a friends house, will grab link from Flickr in a little while as I'm on my iPhone. That's another free kit from Needlecraft Magic. On the upside the person I bought my complete Needlecraft Magic from has found the spare charts and stencils so it will truely be complete. Which is great as I have a couple of projects that I want to do from it.
Elliep: Santa is fab and I'm so pleased to hear that you'll have it out next Christmas.0 -

Just thought I'd mention something I found in HobbyCrafts the other day that was new to me.
It's called "Thread Heaven" and it's a tiny little box of wax that you run the cotton along a couple of times before you start sewing. It's not sticky at all but it has helped no end with the tangles and twisting that can happen with stranded cotton.
You can feel it on the thread, but it's colourless and they say it doesn't affect the colour or the fabric.0 -
I've used thread heaven but I find it unnecessary on stranded cotton. It's great on the DMC metallics and light effect threads though, makes them much more manageable.0

It seems to be stopping the vast majority of tangles that used to irritate the heck out of me so I think I'll keep at it
Useful abuot the metallics though - I'll test it out on the edging for Santa 6 and see how I get on.0 -

interesting, thanks Mags. some of my cheaper threads tangle a lot so i might try it. it sounds a bit like what i've started doing for hand quilting - an older lady taught me to run my thread through a little chunk of natural bee's wax so it flows through the wadding easier. ellip - do you think i could use what i've got instead of buying this product?
Caz and Sweetcarer Bravo!! :T:T
oh and finally i can say that i've finished my little reindeersodd, for such a small design (crosssticher 2 editions ago) it's taken ages. i think that it being small meant it didnt warrent me settling down to do it, which in turn meant that it never got picked up! oh well, i'll try the theory out and start those little free doves asap.
