Hi Ladies
Could you give me some help please? I have a sillhouette pattern which I want to stitch and have been into hobbycraft this evening to have a sneaky look at the threads inside the kit. I managed to write a list (without being caught) but how do I convert the number of threads into skiens? They are charging £14.99 per kit:eek:which I think is far to expensive. I have bought some aida for £2.99 which is enough to do two pictures and I am going to order the threads online sohopefully it will only cost me half the price.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.0 -

In my experience with DMC and Anchor a length is usually a metre and a skein is 8 metres long. So if your pattern says 3 lengths of a colour then a skein should be enough but if it says 10 lengths then you would need 2 skeins.
I have found the less known manufacturers vary in their measurements so if the pattern isn't DMC or Anchor then I'd buy extra to be on the safe side.
Having said that acrosstown is such good value it's not too expensive if you run out and have to do 2 orders.

LindseyandMatthew, if you do want these threads, then pm me your address...or are you getting some from sweetcarer?? Just let me know and I can send some off to you if you want them, but no worries if you get them from someone else.
Gradually improving health-wise...but still get out of breath quite easily. No stitching today...still too painful to wear glasses for any time, but I have washed and ironed my latest two projects:
For my Dad:
For my DH's neice:
So looking forward to making the next Kats by Kelly piccie (Green Paw) - for DH's Sis. Hopefully will get started tomorrow/the weekend.
So back to the knitting again....half-way through the second of my fancy socks, pressent for my sis...really enjoying being so creative, despite not feeling too great.
Have a grat day everyone.

Kez, it's coming along great. How are you finding the evenweave? I'm using it for the first time too and now I am used to it it's not too bad. I do find because I'm stitching on quite alot of the fabric it stretches and moves, it behaves very differently to aida!
Keiss, I love them both but especially the cat one. On hot summer days our cat lily likes to sleep in the utility sink as it's metal. Reminds me of her.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
