Keiss, I love the silhouette-like stitch you did for your dad. Is it part of a series or set? It's beautiful.May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away.
I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime! :cool:0 -
I have the ultimate UFO which is off to the framers tomorrow! It's a large circular oriental picture entitled 'wedding' which I finished last August. I just need to take it off the embroidery frame and run in half a dozen ends that were a bit short and it's ready. The framers is just across the courtyard from work so will pop it over tomorrow.
The reason I've finally got myself in gear to do this is my 'wedding couple' sampler was delivered yesterday and I want to get cracking on that, but need the embroidery frame. Just under seven months to stitch it, but gotta do it all in my lunchbreak at work so h2b doesn't see it.Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December

Kez, it's coming along great. How are you finding the evenweave? I'm using it for the first time too and now I am used to it it's not too bad. I do find because I'm stitching on quite alot of the fabric it stretches and moves, it behaves very differently to aida!
It's good now that I'm in the swing of it, I'm doing okay with the fabric stretching as it's on the scroll frame and I'm confident that I'm good with my tension.
Night off tonight though, must get some shopping done and packed for my weekend away to OH.bikerchick1066 wrote: »The reason I've finally got myself in gear to do this is my 'wedding couple' sampler was delivered yesterday and I want to get cracking on that, but need the embroidery frame. oooo would u mind posting a pic? I have been looking for something that I can sew for my OH as part of his gift on our wedding day in April. Everything I've found is for others to gift to us!Total Debt at LBM - £19107.03Total now - £11091.220 -
In my experience with DMC and Anchor a length is usually a metre and a skein is 8 metres long. So if your pattern says 3 lengths of a colour then a skein should be enough but if it says 10 lengths then you would need 2 skeins.
I have found the less known manufacturers vary in their measurements so if the pattern isn't DMC or Anchor then I'd buy extra to be on the safe side.
Having said that acrosstown is such good value it's not too expensive if you run out and have to do 2 orders.

Keiss - good to hear you're feeling a bit better. that cat one is really nice, i like the fine detail, especially the frame - its really unusual. fingers crossed for starting your new project soon! x
apart from the Reindeer, i've been working on a new cushion cover. it's not Xstitch, so i wont post a piccy, but as it does have Xstitch in it i'll post the link for anyone whose feeling nosey!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/23rdspiral/5090218680/ it's inspired by an Xmas cushion in Home Sense (TK Max home), that was overpriced and didn't have an opening for washing... so i decided to make my own!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. There are loads of them, but I am only doing one for dad atm (not enough time as have LOADS more to do!!)....I do have another to make next year for him. Here are some of the rest of the ones in the series...I have Early Shift forn him next. For only 5"x5", there's quite a bit of detail, using blending and quarter and half stitches...but I love it!!
If anyone is interested in the Kats by Kelly, you can find some of them here. Calico Crossroads is stopping stocking them at the end of the month (in fact I can't find them on her web-site, other than machine embroidery ones)...and as she is the woman who created the charts...there will be no more, other than those held by other suppliers.
Off to snuggle up in the sitting room to do some knitting.
Night, night all

That cushion you are stitching is lovely. I think the home-spun style is really nice. Well done you on saving some dosh and creating your own AND with an opening for washing!0 -
