Its nice to see the list is still being used and I wasn't forgotten.

Hi Bubbles, I'm so pleased to hear your tribunal is over, and whilst the result is maybe a little scary, it sounds like it is best for your recovery, bank balance and Xstitching!
    - i'm just thinking that from the size of that photo i can see all the stitches... humm... :A
    - of course you haven't been forgotten Bubbles! (and with you pearing back at me from my magazine stash, i have to say you never will be!!)
Had some bad news yesterday. My job's safe (luckily) but two of our team will be made redundant soon, out of 5 jobs at risk. This is sad as it includes a number of people that I get on well with. :(

that's horrible. i was in that position last year. but now i might be on the other side of things! i work in Local Governement, in the Arts... so knew my job was at risk in the general scheme of cuts but,
    ~ I got a pay rise last week :j
~ Then yesterday morning was told i'm being made redundant  :(
~ Then only 2hrs later i was told might be kept on but wont know till january

~ to top it all yesterday evening we had a mortgage appointment. how to confuse me very easily. couldnt concentrate to choose next project. slept badly. and my head''s still spinning.

I noticed a couple of you mentioned damaged laptop screens, you can buy replacement screens from £50-£120 depending on laptop model and fit it yourself, its fairly straight forward. If that is too daunting a pc repair shop shouldn't charge much to fix it. For a rough guide on price put your model number in here :)

Thnaks for that link, I have checked mine and it's £70...I have added it to the 'wish list' in my favourites, no chance of getting it just now, hubby's pickup cost us £700 last month _pale_ plus there is so many other things in the run up to Christmas.

There is nothing worse than being told 'maybe'....at least if you know you can make other plans but to let you sit on it for months??

I can sympathise totally, during the awful recession period my hubby was made redundant just before our wedding last year, again just before Christmas and a third time in May this year...if I hear the phrase 'economic downturn once more'.... He decided to go self employed and hasn't looked back since :)

    I've already sent Bubbles a PM. ;)

Sounds like a lot of us are having a bad time at the moment. Between illnesses and job worries and laptop troubles it's no wonder we need our stitching and the cafe to keep us smiling! :)

Was awake til about 4am stressing about this bridesmaid thing. I'm thinking maybe I could ask for a smaller, more background role in the wedding as I don't feel comfortable having so much responsibility. Maybe as an unofficial photographer, getting candid snaps and not posed ones, like the proper photographer would? Part of the reason I don't want to do it as that I know I'm gonna be a problem finding a dress for. I'm short and very 'cuddly' and don't want to be the odd one out with the other much younger bridesmaids standing there looking gorgeous in their size 10 dresses! :(

*Louise*-that has got a lot of detail in it, but I'm not ruling out a Nov 30th finish. I've seen how fast you stitch and I think there's a good chance you'll do it. If it makes you feel any better, I have a large map design to stitch. It's the Real Counties Of Britain design, at the bottom of this page...

Tbh I would say honesty is best, she might be more understanding of a reason like that rather than maybe thinking you just didn't want to do it. I think the idea of offering to something else is a good one :)

Currently browsing wedding samplers.....My younger brother is getting married in Feb so trying to find something for him and his wife. Nothing flowery, needs to be quite modern

There's at least 15 pages on sew and so to browse through.....I shall try and only choose one....hehe

Thanks. Just dreading actually telling her I can't do it. But if I'm having trouble sleeping already, then it's not going to do me much good stressing about it for 2 years.

I'm not sure when I'll get round to stitching it. I have bought all the material (except the gold thread. Not sure which would be best for stitching such a large amount, but I'll do the gold last anyway.) and I do want to get stuck into it, but it's SO BIG. I also have no idea where to put it once stitched! :rotfl: Hoping by the time I've finished, we'll have won the lotto and bought a castle...:D

Oh my Ruth_honey....a different magazine...and what wonderful projects...must resist, must resist :rotfl:. Good luck with the map...it will be amazing [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] when you finish it!!

Louise you don't half set yourself targets hun, but as others have said: if anyone can do it....!!! I look forward to seeing its speedy progress :D.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes everyone. My asthma really played up yesterday...3 attacks and a visit to the docs (had a go on a nebulizer...bliss!), has me now taking steroids and antibiotics :(. Hopefully I will be well enough to sleep in my bed tonight...it was the chair last night...good for the chest, not great for my back...really don't want it to start playing up as well !!

No work for the rest of the week :(...but loads of knitting and sewing! :j Will concentrate on knitting today and tomorrow as wearing my glasses for any time is still painful. Only need my glasses for knitting when I drop a stitch!! Hopefully I can get back to sewing by Thursday...at least I am whizzing through my Xmas present list :D.

Thats a terrible position for yu to be in, im really sorry to hear that. Even if your not one of the ones being made redundant once the announcement has been made the atmosphere in the offce is terrible for months.

aaw hope you feel better soon. I think by the time you have listed items and paid fees its not worth putting them on ebay unless its a special kit.

I need to buy a kit for my brothers wedding and we have an aunt from australia coming to stay from friday so Im going to try and stitch a book or something.

btw an advert in crossstitcher caught my eye, dmc threads for 24p each and it gets cheaper the more you buy. Dont know what they are like. Its £24 if you want 100 skeins. I might order some when my benefit refund comes through.

Really sorry to hear you have been unwell :( I have asthma too and it completely sucks! Touch wood haven't had an attack for a while but know how horrible it is so I really do emphathise with you!

At least you are turning it into something positive and getting your knitting and sewing done!!!

I haven't done much on my squirrel for the past couple of weeks been job hunting and diying to the max! Got next week off though so plan on getting on track with all the homemade christmas presents - which includes my cross stitch! And who knows maybe even finding a new job - fingers and toes crossed!

Really like the Beatrix Potter design is it hard to do on that fabric? I have never used it before but it looks complicated!!

Love love love the christmas scene! Not long to go now! Can't wait!
    Keep on comping!
