Hello everybody! I've been mostly lurking... except for the advice-asking as far as the grubbiness of my aida cloth, and thank you for everyone who helped me know what to do!
I did lots of stitching this weekend... here is the before picture, right after I shifted the picture on my scroll. (You can totally see the vertical "line" of where my hands used to grip the cloth on the edge of the scroll... but hopefully that will wash out in the end...)

And here is the after picture!

Now, unfortunately, it's time for bed. Goodnight, y'all!May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away.
I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime! :cool:0 -
Cassolete, it's lovely but looks so difficult - all those pale colours so close together !
My mum's got an UFO with a similar little girl picking daisies and I keep putting off finishing it for the same reason.0 -
Morning all
nice pics cassolete and niamhirl
Am afraid now that term has started I don't seem to have time to get hardly anything done- the job has taken over again. Upside of that though is that I am going on the first of 3 courses in Leeds on wed so will take some knitting or sewing to do on the train, haven't booked my ticket yet though so prob won't get a seat for the first one now:( Anyone know if you can reserve a seat on trainline?
sewing wise I have made up both of the cards I made, one with wadding and the other without. havent taken pic of second so will post link when have done that. Charlie card is nearly done, am on the lettering but have done some more of the scarf I started last week at sewing group.
my kid is on inset today ( i dont work on mondays) so we are picking granny up then going shopping in nottingham (must resist Lakeland, must resist Lakeland:rotfl:) so no stitching for me until sewing group tonight
Have a nice days and happy stitching folks

you can request to reserve seat when you check out, but sometimes it tells you it can't.
I LOVEEEEEE Nottingham not been there for AGES. IKEA is my weakness!! (when i get someone to take me with a car).....mmmmm IKEA meatballs..loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
hello everyone... i feel like i'm creaping out from under a stone to come and say hello for the first time in ages
i've sorta been spinning out a bit lately, and have fallen off the stitching wagon - the scarecrow sampler foxed me as i ran out of black and knew i had some somewhere so wouldnt buy any, and well, it sat untouched in the living room for quite a while
i have done some freehand embroidery and quite a bit of patchwork so i'm just about keeping my sanity, but i've just realised i really miss my xstitch and you lot on here too! :heartsmil
:xmastree:i've bought the xmas mag in the sorta box, can't remember which one it is, with the idea to stitch the cute robin for mum's xmas card - and as one fancy card could be £5.00 in some overpriced shop, i'm really saving money, aren't i? :rotfl:
oh, and i'm planning to catch up on the month / 20 pages of chatter here during the next 3 weeks whilst my chap is away and uncontactableRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Anyone know if you can reserve a seat on trainline?
Don't use Trainline unless you absolutely HAVE to! They usually charge more than booking directly with the train company. All the hidden charges, like credit & debit card fees, and postage charges (even a collection charge when you collect the ticket at the station!) Find out what train company you would be using to get there and find their website. You can probably collect the tickets at the station on the day. If it's a shorter journey, some trains don't have bookable seats. I know when I travel between Gloucester and Swindon, you just sit where there's space. No way of reserving a seat.
http://www.transportdirect.info might be useful for you.
It might even be worth your while to go to the station today or tomorrow and get it booked in person. Call first to check journey availability and prices, though.
Have fun in Nottingham! I had my hen weekend there and had a great time.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hello! Can I join in? I am new to cross stitch / embroidery and have a small and simple project on the go just now. I am doing a poem which I might just finish in time for christmas!! I haven't figured out how to add a picture yet ( but will get round to it soon) but a picture can be foundon my blog if you want a peek!
I can't add a link here apparently, but the blog name is in my siggy and copy & pasting into the search bar should work0 -

I'm glad Ruth_Honey thinks along the same lines that I do.Don't use Trainline to purchase your tickets, nearly any rail operator will allow you to book tickets for any operator/route with no hidden charges.
I use https://www.fgw.co.uk (First Great Western) for all my tickets, as I travel a lot between Swindon and Luton and they use a similar system to the Trainline so its very familiar and they don't charge for using cards or for postage. I've also used them to travel up to Manchester before now.
On the stitching front, I've got the chart sorted out, so will print that out on A3, so that I can read the thing... Still waiting for my threads to arrive from Across Town, but that's fine, as I've got to finish my knitting and also get the fabric gridded up.0 -

Hello and welcome!!
That's a lovely poem - I recognise the final paragraph, have a completed picture of it myself, but hadn't read the full poem before.
