I'll go for the 28ct Evenweave then, thank you so much for the help.
I didn't read your original post properly.... sorry for the duff info0 -
Aww TMIF, not to worry, I'm not very good at this conversion malarky, as I couldn't get my head around the workings out.
Well I've ordered the supplies (threads from Across-Town, fabric from Sew and So), so we'll see in the fullness of time.
Do you guys have any tips for working on Evenweave? I have a wash out pen so I'll be gridding this one for the first time.0 -

Yeah, don't use it if you don't have to :rotfl:
I am using evenweave for the first time and it's been hard work. Remembering to stitch over 2 threads has been the worst thing to get used to for me.
I am finding that evenweave goes out of shape much more readily than aida does but ew is much better than aida for doing fractional stitches.
I don't hate ew but I don't love it either:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I think I read 11 threads per cm as 11 per inch simply out of habit.
The link is good tho - helps me cheat all the time at conversions!!
Personally, I prefer the finish on evenweave compared to aida. But then, hey I am weird!
Creative stitches and hobbycraft show at exeter tomorrow. VERY EXCITED!0 -

The grid lines will be a massive help:T. Other than that, don't pull the thread too tightly and use a smaller needle than you would for aida
Evenweave gives a lovely finish, and it's more flexible to fit in a hoop or frame.tellmeitsfriday wrote: »

I've gone with Evenweave this time, as it's a fairly open stitch, so about 80% of the background is fabric.0 -
I shifted my cross stitch today in my scroll-frame, and was sad to find the edge where I used to hold my cross stitch looks grubby on the aida cloth. Is there a good way to lift the dark stains along that part? Some magic washing soap, or something? Or will my cross stitch have that dark strip in it forever? I am sad!May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away.
I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime! :cool:0 -

I always get my stitching grubby and end up washing them once they're finished. I use the gentle detergent stuff you use for handwashing smalls etc. Never had any probs yet with shrinkage or colours running (in more than 20 years of stitching). Touch Wood
I've tried all sorts to keep them clean but no matter how much I scrub my hands and the hoops I still leave marks.0 -

That should be just fine to work with.
I also use the 'how much background can you see' to decide whetyher to use aida or evenweaveI shifted my cross stitch today in my scroll-frame, and was sad to find the edge where I used to hold my cross stitch looks grubby on the aida cloth. You can wash it easily. I just use a small amount of washing powder, stitching is tougher than it looks. If you are using named brand threads then you will have no problems with the dye running.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Do you 'stitch in the well'? If you don't it's an easy way of keeping the front of your fabric clean. It's hard to explain so I have found a great pic of sweetcarers that shows exactly how your fabric should look when stitching in the well http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=30752265&postcount=1256
If you already stitch in the well....then ignore me :rotfl::heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
