That should be just fine to work with.
I also use the 'how much background can you see' to decide whetyher to use aida or evenweave
It's quite open and I want it to look nice for the couple, they live in a art deco house with quite traditional styling, so I couldn't go for the usual big and bright, like I normally do.0 -
Thank you!! I have been using DMC thread so I will hope it does not bleed.
I actually use a scroll to cross-stitch... and I suppose I'm in the habit of holding my cross-stitch on the edges where the fabric rolls under... can I still stitch "in the well," I wonder?
Thanks everyone! I will try some of my clothes fabric liquid soap... that should be okay, eh?May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away.
I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime! :cool:0 -

You should be able to. The pic I linked to shows sweetcarers scroll frame and I too use a scroll/rotating frame and stitch in the well.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
As shelly showed I used in the well too (and now still do) - some of the regulars will remember what it looked like after I found it after 5 years in the shed
After a wash with some bio washing machine powder and a good rinse with warm water - it turned out clean. I used dmc threads - so I guess that helped too. Stitching is going to get a bit dirty so be prepared to wash it and use good threads.
sweetcarer:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Thanks! I think I will wash it after I am finished stitching it. I feel so close and yet so far away...
...does anyone happen to have the pattern for it, by the way? My pattern is worse-for-wear -- actually, it's so worn out that it's wripped along the creases and is almost four pieces instead of one -- and I anticipate I may have some trouble finding the back stitching. I would be super grateful if it got wink-wink-nudge-nudged!!!May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away.

Well I dug around in the cupboard and found my UFOs but they were FOs, although I might unpick the wording on the sign outside the shop as even I can't make out the word "Open" that should be on it.
In a weird way I'm a bit disappointed that I'd finished them as I'm itching to get going at a new project.:(

Just waiting for my family house picture kit to arrive, but it's bound to take a while for the thread etc to be organised.
Must be patient

Hi everyone - been lurking as usual but just wanted to pop in and say hi, so...... HI lol!
Have been sewing away at my treefrog for my bf's best friend though I'd wanted to have it finished by tomorrow as she's coming to stay, however last weekend I got confused with the colour of one of the threads and realised the colour I've been using for the sign should actually be used for under the frog's chin, I then realised I didnt have enough to do the chin so had to get a replacement though because it's a dimensions kit I had to get a close-enough match for the thread. Anyway, because I had that wee mishap I've kind of been put off a bit and haven't picked up a needle since last Thursday! Hopefully I'll have some time after my errands today to get some sewing in and will just have to get up really early tomorrow (even though I'm going out tonight!) and try to get loads more done. Fingers crosed!
I have really missed stitching even though it's just been for a week, so I suppose that's a good thing!
Have also made the decision to see my local stitchy shop about any stitching clubs that may be on the go locally, or if not I may ask if I can sort out a sign re setting one up.......after a bit of information gathering though I think!
Happy stitching everyoneNSD November 1/20 :money:

Hi everyone!
Just thought I should pop in and say hello now that I finally have done a bit of stitching. First time in about 2-3 weeks. I went to my stitch meet on Friday & took along the Meery Christmas meerkat kit. I didn't get a great deal of it done as I was chatting quite a lot too, but it felt good to pick up a needle again. I also got given a bundle of evenweave from a lady there as she can't see the holes very well, so couldn't use it. I gave her my old lap frame a few weeks ago, so it's a good swap!
Other good news is that my R&R frame has finally turned up. It's the biggest one I own and I really needed it for the Cakes design, but couldn't find it anywhere. I turned up amongst my clothing in a drawer in the spare room. I think-by my logic-I put it there because it was a safe place for it not to get broken, but totally forgot where it was. So now I can get on with stitching some larger things again. :TCross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Afternoon all.
I've got the evenweave for my Peter The Rabbit Baby Sampler project for my other half's best friend and wife's little one.
Got a bit irritated with trying to line up my scroll frame with the fabric, as I was so conscience of the pull on the fabric will distort it if it's lined up wrong. Can someone send me a link to those clips that would work with it instead?
It's all on the frame now though, thanks to my other half lining it up and masking it down for me.
I have the centre mark in place and I'm just updating the chart with the names and date through a scanned image on the pc (as it's over 4 pages in the book).
Then I've got to grid it up, which I will need to concentrate on as I've not worked evenweave before.
Once it's gridded I'll get a set up picture for you.
Threads should arrive at work tomorrow.0 -

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to do that sort of thing! It's got so bad that I've started writing in my diary where I've put things that I won't need for a while e.g. I've added a note under 01 Nov that the windscreen de-icer and scrapper is on 3rd shelf down in garage. On 16 Nov I've jotted down where the cat's clean bedding is for his stay at the cattery
Now, where's my diary ? :rotfl:0
