  • Awesome stitching Louise, that's a beautiful picture, no wonder you are enjoying it!
  • Hi, I am new to this thread but have been following *stalking* this thread for a few weeks now :o

I have started a birth sampler and am using a hoop to hold it taut but it is annoying me - it is not taut and I keep getting the thread caught underneath. I see from some of your pictures that some of you have holders. Assume they come from Hobbycraft or similar but how much are they approximately please?

:mad:Fed up and grumpy again cos have done my back in - wasn't even doing anything exciting like rock climbing or parascending, just putting coat hangers in a wardrobe when it went, I screamed, said a few expletives and that was the end of Sunday (10am!).

Am now off work, doped up to the eyeballs in drugs which aren't helping and need to move every 5 minutes or so or I completely seize up.

Did have to laugh though when the doctor examined me and said "you are very lopsided!" - she obviously knows me better than I thought! :rotfl:
Oh dear, poor you Dora....have you ever gone to a chiropractor? I have been using one when needed the past ten years, and wouldn't be without him! I also have a TENS machine and access to a sports physio...so have all bases covered!! Luckily my drugs box is down to just paracetamol (and vitamins/supplements) atm, but dreading the next time the back goes - can't take ibuprofen/neurofen any more as I developed ulcers with them last year.

I do hope the pain eases for you soon.

Hya frugalfredaI got my frame from here...Louise (super speedy sewing queen!) recommended it, and I love it. I have two pieces of work on it atm...it's possible, honest!!

Loving all the stitching ...sorry, not been about for a good few days...having a visit from the Black Dog...and he doesn't seem to want to leave atm :(. So trying to develop strategies to get rid of him.

Hope to get some stitching done today, been trying to plan my Christmas cards/pressies, but not getting very far...just worked out here are only 101 days to Christmas!! Must get a move on.

    Have a good day everyone.

Hi, and welcome - was just about to post about the lap frame but Keiss has done it already :D It is brilliant, I wouldn't be without mine, stitching is so much quicker and easier since I bought it.

Ok it's been a while and i don't do it all the time but here is an update on the garden shed.

It's been blinking hard, and last night found myself unpicking lots as it stitched in the wrong place!!

But it is slowly coming together.

I always use a hoop but do find it a pain in the butt! I think this will definitely be on my christmas list to Santa - is it easy to dismantle? As I don't have much room to store it when i'm not using it!

I am getting really excited about christmas and everyone is getting annoyed with me as well! I have pretty much worked out what I am getting everyone just trying to stagger it out over the next few months!

    LOVING this design!!!!:j:j:j

I seriously can't believe how quickly you stitch! If it's anything to do with the frame being easier than that makes me want to get one even more!!! How long do you spend stitching at a time!? Any hints/tips would be gratefully received!!!
    Keep on comping!

My friends going through the same. I blame the change in the weather... Hope he goes soon. xx

With a hoop, have you tried the 'in the well' method? This is where you frame your work the other way around and work within the hoop rather than on top of it. Also doing it up with a screwdriver might help, as I had one where I couldn't hand tighten it any more.

It comes apart easily and can be stored flat, I find it useful cos I can stick it in a bag and take it to my mums to get some extra work done while I chat :)

And the fast stitching I put down to two things:

1- The frame - I can use two hands now which is not only faster but stops me getting a clicky wrist :o

2- Water erasable pen to mark off the 10x10 squares, it's so much quicker to count little sections, plus if I do make a mistake I will spot it faster.

Stitching time varies, but if I am really into a design I can easily do a full 3 hours in the evenings while watching the tv.
