And finally! does anyone know of any good magazine deals at the mo? My fave is cross stitch gold, but world of and crosstitcher are good. Don't like card shop or xstitch crazy.Happy stitching

Have a look at the deals here thrifty , there's a couple of 5 issues for £5 offers, including World of Cross Stitching. Others here have taken up this offer in the past and cancel before they have to take out a further subscription...I think! No doubt they will be along later to comment.

Managed to get some stitching done last night :j, almost finished yet another square for the charity quilt (my third so far!!). Will post piccies once I have finished. Have to finish all the back-stitching, then the outer border and my name & county. I then have to get going with a coaster for my BIL. His birthday is on Sunday, and he knows it will be late :o. I have already sent him a polo-shirt (sale), so he won't be without pressies on Sunday.

After that I can get back to my Elegant Lady...oh no, I have just remembered that I was planning to sew the card-kit from WoX-S...the foxglove Edwardian Lady one. It is my MIL's birthday at the end of the month, and thought she would like it.

Goodness knows when I will ever get any work done on The Astronomer...as I have a few projects in mind for Xmas pressies all lined up and waiting for attention! The Elegant Lady will be a Xmas pressie, so that is one down and loads more to go!! ;)

Who says X-stitch is relaxing! :rotfl:

tell me its friday I didn't mean for you to ignore your mum whilst you were stitching!:o My mum introduced me to cross stitch and as she was so ill that she couldn't do it, it gave us something to chat about and she liked watching it develop. My gran was in cloud cuckoo land and didn't know what she was talking about so that time it was for my sanity as she kept asking me the same questions repeatedly- bless , she is better now but still a bogger. Unfortunately my mum passed away but stitching is my connection to her so I think of her often when I am doing it.:A
Ignore the nurses, make your mum laugh as much as you can!

sweetcarer sorry to hear about your hubby, I think certain conditions can't truly be understood until you have experienced them for yourself. I hope his employers are more understanding.

As for holidays, we are having a freebie this year again in my dad's girlfriend's caravan at Bridlinton. the kids love it there, I just hope it stays dry.
keiss thanks for the link, am very tempted by the world of x one, think may have to go downstairs and find my credit card:p

My friend came around with her kit earlier and she has picked one which has lots of fractional stitches in it:eek: Trying to explain how to do them is difficult so I had to show her instead. I hope she takes to it.

Have to make jam tonight as I put the fruit to soak yesterday then may get my ironing out of the way again. Or I could just cross stitch .......:p What do you reckon?

    I have had a great day :D

Kids were off to the grandparents so I met with sis, aunt and gran for lunch, then went shopping :j Mainly stuff for school, and a few christmas things.

Then when I got home hubby had collected my Vision at the Lake from his parents house - the framer dropped it off today:T (They paid for the framing as an anniversary present for us)

    So here it is...

    July2010104.jpg

And in location, so everyone can see it as the go down the stairs lol

I have to admit...:o I was a little disappointed that it doesn't have a mount, I wasn't so keen on the effect of the design going right to the edge of the frame (plus my initals are lost lol) but MIL was the one who took it to be done so must have forgotten to ask about a mount. Still, it was nice of her to get it done, and I appreciate that :D

    *Phew*

Got that page completed at last - freakin confetti stitching *cries*

I still love the picture, but have decided to take a break from it to get some Christmas stitching done. So my new plan is in my siggy lol - I recently found out my MIL loves Meerkats, there was a chart in a Xstitch mag earlier this year, so I will stitch that for her. :)

Beautiful picture Louise I think it looks lovely without a mount tbh. Still can't get over how quickly you can stitch!

I havent been on here for ages as I have kind of got lost in other things. Im so happy it saturday and that I have a whole weekend of stitching at my disposal! :j

I hope all are well and I send hugs to all those who need them. Incidentally my sub copy of Cross Stitcher has just dropped through my door YAY :D

I celebrated my birthday last week and my OH bought me the daylight stitchsmart stand with the accessories kit see here http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran2738-0.html

    very exciting !

my first project to be stitched on it will be a country companions cricket design :D although I havent started it yet.

Ive decided this year that I am going to make some cross stitch themed gifts. I was also thinking of making some decorations for my tree but am not sure how to do this? I am stitching a small christmas pooh design at the moment (the kit came free with a magazine). How would I turn this into a tree decoaration ? I did think i could stitch the christmas tigger on plastic canvas but then remembered about the three quarter stitches ! that wouldn't work on plastic canvas !!!

Louise. I love the newly framed Vision at the Lake, it looks stunning.

Flat Eric. I would stitch the design, trim it down, back it with felt and add some ribbon. Here's a site that gives basic instructions... http://www.cross-stitching.com/kh_page.asp?id=129
Quickly googled and found a pic of what I mean.... http://www.folksy.com/items/5845 Though I don't know how you would seal(?) the edges to stop fraying. Mind you if they were all full stitches I'd use plastic canvas.

Also found this site offering free xmas designs http://www.freepatternsonline.com/xscharts/christmas.htm

I love the designs on this site and I'm very tempted! http://www.johnsoncrafts.co.uk/shop/Decorations.html

    Hope that helps!

Louise - love the lady in her frame...know what you mean about wanting a mount. I got a design framed years ago, and they didn't use a mount as I'd asked. As it was a birthday pressie and was being collected the day I got it back from the framers, I had no choice but to take it...still riles a bit when I see it again though!! Mind you, she looks really good, the stairwell is a good place to have it so everyone can admire it!!!

Flat Eric - here is a decoration I made many years ago. I only have it out as it is waiting to get glued together again. :o

I found a box with loads more of the frames that I had made (lollipop sticks!!), so I could well be making another batch for this Christmas!! Now to find the charts that I used...think it was from a mag, or from one of the many books I have. ;)

Nearly finished the quilt square, will get it done this weekend. I spent most of last night sewing name-labels into DS2's new college sports kit (7 items, plus socks!).

Right, off to get more bread made...bottomless pits in my house!!!

    Enjoythe weekend everyone.

Back off our hols camping for a week near York - have done the Castle museum, Jorvik, DIG, creepy crawlies play area, Ripon (where dh and I met aaaw), Scarborough, Railway Museum, Yorkshire Air museum, Quilt museum, Pocklington, Burnby Gardens and managed to see Toy Story 3 last night cos it was pouring it down and we didn't want to spend our last night of hols sat in the tent!

Just got to get everything unpacked, washed etc etc etc.

Will have to spend a few hours reading back over all your posts to see how busy everyone has been! Did a litle stitching but not much tbh and dh has got work every night this week so guess what I'll be doing then!
